Oldest I've had was an 18yo scotch. Glenlivit actually.

Currently I have Glenrothes Select Reserve. Almost done with it though.. Might be looking for something else next. Another single malt. I like the speysides lately. Maybe I'll try an irish single malt though.
People who have always drunk scotch are generally disapointed the first time they try an Irish whiskey because that peat flavor isn't there. But the good Irish Whiskies have a very complex yet clean flavor to them that just can't be beat. I find the Scotch Whiskies to be too heavy and peaty now.

One of these days we're going to go on a distillery tour of Scotland but Paris is higher on the list at the moment. Smilie

Its better if you get them in New Orleans, but the mix they sell is the real deal. Get some Everclear and mix it per the directions and have someone taking video of the evening!

I do like Jamesons and I tend to shoot the regular bushmills at bars, so I think I'll enjoy an Irish whiskey... Oh and I tried Michael Collins, neat, and I enjoyed that as well, so I'll have to give the bushmills a shot.. How does it run price wise?

Bushmills Black Bush tends to run about 5-10 bucks more at the NH liquor stores. Good stuff, but not as forgiving the next day as white label Bushmills or Jameson (which is my go-to.)

Edit - sorry, I just saw that you guys were talking up the fancy "count the years" Bushmills. Smilie

Have a few cement mixers. Here the recipe:

Quote :
A cement mixer is a shot drink. It consists of:

* 1 part Bailey's Irish Cream
* 1 part Lime juice (lemon juice may be substituted)

The drink is traditionally ingested by taking the shot of Bailey's, holding it in the mouth, then sipping the lime juice and swirling the two around the mouth. The drink may also be combined as a layered shot, as the lime juice is less dense than most brands of "Irish Cream". The acidic lime juice causes the cream-based Bailey's to curdle. The curdled Bailey's does not taste sour, but it does rapidly gain viscosity and stick to your teeth, reminiscent of cement.

I'm not that picky. I'll take the regular stuff too. Big Grin i'm an equal opportunity alcohol enthusiast. I'm open to all whiskeys and scotches. If it tastes good, lemme give it a shot.

Yeah. Most bartenders won't serve it. It tends to induce vomiting and unless you're in your late teens or early 20s.. it's really not that funny.

I can't drink Blackbush anymore. There's nothing wrong with it but DH spoiled me with the 16 and 21 yo. laugh out loud I don't drink very often so I do the fancy stuff when I do. DH drinks Redbreast or Jameson for every day. The 16 yo sells for around $55 or $60 in Texas, the 21 yo goes for $115 to $120.

of these, I find I really like rum & coke as my drink of choice (with way more coke than rum)
I don't know if it's because I'm cheap or not
bacardi gold, select or superior?
I've only had bacardi gold so far for mixing...I don't like to do shots of it

also Malibu rum is amazing

I also fancy mojitos and jungle juice >_>
I HATE rum and coke now. My old roommates and I literally consumed 40 bottles of rum in one year because "it was cheap"

except malibu rum is still tasty by itself

I'm really digging local microbreweries but I am now looking for new cocktails to try. Something manly but appeases my kinda-girly tastes (like old fashioneds)
