Lots of QOL changes for the switch version, too. The PS4 version still looks better but all of the additions make me think I'll never go back to the PS4 edition unless they add the new stuff with an update. Here's a list of everything I can remember being changed since I'm currently replaying it on switch for the first time:

-Auto progression during cutscenes so I don't have to constantly hit x to hear the next line of dialogue
-Skippable cutscenes
-Fast forward option in battles so grinding is much quicker if you want it to be
-Can use the crafting forge anywhere
-Can buy most missing recipe ingredients from the forge itself saving hours looking up where to get one little missing ingredient and save scumming when it didn't come out perfect during forging
-New cosmetic outfits
-You get an item that lets you summon the horse from anywhere on the map instead of those weird bells
-When you forage for items from trees they all go straight to the inventory instead of having to be picked up one by one
-Orchestral soundtrack
-Japanese voices even tho I still love the Dub and I think the JP voiceover is a first for the series
-New story content
-A photo mode that I'll never use but I'm sure someone will
-More mounts
-Harder end game content
-The 2D mode is pretty cool and adds a whole new town

I'm sure I've missed some stuff but this is all I can remember noticing which is already a LOT
This is a great deal! If you're not sure you want it, then try the demo. It takes about 6-10 hours to complete so you'll have a good idea I'd you'll like it or not
I went for it on dragon quest. The movie on Netflix gave me the itch

I got the DQ11. Been waiting for it to drop to $40. I finished the game on PS4. Great game! Must try if you enjoy JRPG!

I feel you. I am very interested in Dragon Quest and played the demo of XI. So I watched the movie thinking that it was almost free anyway. The story was quite a cliche up until the one and half hour mark but not too bad. I really regret watching till the end though.

My daughter is currently enjoying Zelda - breath of the wild. Is this game similar to that?

No, it's a fairly different game. Dragon Quest XI is an excellent turn-based JRPG with an endearing cast of characters, but plays very differently than BotW, which is basically an open world adventure game.

This is an outstanding game. I've never cared for the over-the-top corniness inherent to many JRPGs, but I am a casual fan of RPGs in general, and this one struck me as being a bit different so I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did.

The story, the characters, the writing, the voice acting, the art style are all exceptionally well-crafted and endearing. I'm currently 50 hours in and the game is showing no signs of slowing down, but when I finish it I will for sure be going back to try some earlier entries in the series.
