The gallon fluid at dollar stores has no alcohol, its water with some dye and maybe additive to fight bacteria.
The half-gallon is the same as this deal, -20 rating. So this is double the quantity for the same price.
With that said many of the cheap -20 fluid are really only good til maybe 0 to 10 degrees on average. The -20 is usually when it turns to a solid block, not when it starts to freeze.
My preference is the -25 at walmart for $2.17. But the washer fluid in this deal is good for summer in colder places and year round in warmer places.

And if for whatever reason you have left over fluid as winter approaches, add some isopropyl alcohol into the reservoir, it prevents fluid from freeze.
Additionally, if you have bottles sitting around for long, the alcohol "evaporates/escapes" and becomes useless.
