It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Internet subtotal
$39.99

Thanks OP! Was able to get the deal in the Bay Area. Was paying $40 for 300, dropped to $39.99 for 1gbps haha.
Do you have TV and/or wireless service with AT&T too? They're only offering me $49.99 even though I have wireless service too.

I have the same T-mobile router with stock firmware. Unfortunately I only get around 300 vs the AT&T gateway which runs about 900+. This is so frustrating. I plug the same router over at my parents place which doesn't required the stupid modem and I can get 900+. This is so puzzling....anyone think we have a hardware compatibility issue here?
yeah im hearing lots of reports that at&t's gateway is just super shitty and that there also might be one with a newer firmware version that works better? either way, you'd think they would be using only a certain version for their gigabit customers but they're so disorganized that everyone has a different at&t gateway.

Does anyone have any luck with negotiating internet 1000 after 12 months?

Also, it seems that the internet 1000 is the only plan available? I don't see internet 100 and 300 fiber.

Fiber came down my street in 2016 and I got my first plan in Nov. '16, a year later the 18mbps I had was more than the 30mbsp they offered then. So another new 12 month plan and lock in. The next year the 100 was cheaper than the 30, and then last year the 300 was cheaper than 100. This is the way they move you to a new plan and keep you locked in. So next March hopefully we will get another deal to keep us. This was a big jump to the top tier so I don't know what's next, so just enjoy this because they seldom(never) give their regular customers any break, just the new sign ups and hook them with the equipment fee.

How did you deal with 12-month contract terms?

I thought about doing this, however loyalty informed me that there will be a $75 cancellation fee on my account. They weren't able to switch me to the $49.99 deal, however, they were able to upgrade my current deal ($70 until July 2020) for life with no expiration.

Same here. Seeing $50/month for me in Oakland.

Equipment fee of $10/month is waived so that's nice.

Any idea what type of equipment is included? Is it recommended that I purchase my own modem if that will make my internet faster and more reliable?

It's a wash, it was $39.99 and $10 equipment fee and now it's $49.99 with no equipment fee, so essentially the same price. I received the BGW210 and looks like you can't bypass their equipment. I have sonic at another house and the fiber optic cable comes into the house and attaches to what they call an ONT which outputs it to a Ethernet port. I can directly connect a computer to that with Sonic but with AT&t you can't do that.

It is an annoyance that the device cannot be bypassed. This has forced me to use my mesh router as just an access point

I mean you can try Ethernet passthru however I'm afraid it might cause more issues then it's worth!

Can confirm you cannot bypass. You can downgrade firmware every so often until they flash it back. The router will block all traffic with a synflood attack.

Can you use a second Wifi router (Access point) connected via e-net cable to the the AT&T Gateway-modem/router? I have to get coverage in the far area of my house.
