It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Internet subtotal
$39.99

I've called twice, first time last month when I saw this deal posted, then again today. My current 70/mo promo for Gigabit fiber ends May 18th. The rep said the system won't let him change to the promo and to call back one week before the contract end date. So, should I keep calling or should I log in online and switch to the $90/mo 300mbps plan in hopes that it will let me switch to the new promo price? I don't like the idea of raising my bill $20 in hopes that it will unlock the promo pricing.
Be careful, last week a poster did just that, it worked but he got stuck with the $10 equipment fee. Since you're so close to the end of your plan, I would wait.

It says it will run a credit check, is that true - If i am already a ATT customer, it makes no sense.

I guess then my question would be, how long is this promo going to last? Will it last into mid-May?

Is 1-800-331-0500 the retention number to call ? I called around 3PM PT and got the message "Office Closed".

Suppose to be. If they use overseas call centers like India, and I'm sure they do, then they are most likely on lock-down also. I got that message during the day on one of their numbers a week or so back.

I have been an ATT fiber customer for the past 3-4 years, Atlanta area.

Is this deal still going if I were to call in and ask for the promo or did anything change?

It sure looks like it is https://www.att.com/internet/fiber/

Log into your account, click the change plan and see what or if they offer you anything. If you have gig speed at a higher price now, they probably won't offer anything. In that case you'll have to try a CS rep in the retention/loyalty department. I assume you have no equipment fee and that is what you want to protect. If you're on a plan, they may say you have to finish it, but many have had nice reps change it on the phone(see the wiki). You won't get any of the reward stuff since that's for new customers, but gig speed at $50 is pretty good.

Yeah, that's the question. They seem to stick with their plans price for awhile. I think I first saw a 300mbps deal on here way back in late '18. I would think you're pretty safe, but you can always keep calling.

So to be clear, if I'm a current customer that is paying full price for the gig speed and out of contract, I just need to downgrade to a lower speed through my AT&T account online? Then wait a few and the new promo prices will be available?

From post #582 last week:
"I currently have 1gb fiber. I was able to downgrade online without a call/chat rep to the 300 mbps tier, checked back 5 minutes later and saw the 49/mo promo (with additional $10 equipment fee unfortunately) and upgraded."

with additional $10 equipment fee.

Partially correct. Not all fiber is synchronous. In the case of AT&T, they call it fiber, but it's only fiber to some point in your neighborhood, then the "extra mile" to your house is not.

Even for businesses, AT&T Fiber comes in two flavors -- Dedicated service (very expensive), and Cheap. The Cheap option is not the same up and down speeds. Nor is the home service.

That has been my experience since getting AT&T Small Business Fiber for a client in SoCal. Cheap, but not synchronous. Also, they filter, even for businesses, so things like mail servers do not work.

Of course, in my neighborhood, no AT&T Fiber. Gotta stick with greedy COX with their data caps.
Everywhere that I've seen ATT Fiber for home is fiber to the house, not just fiber to the node. I'm fairly certain they sell it under a different name otherwise.

To add to the slickness of this, AT&T announced that Internet 1000 customers get free access to HBO Max.

In most cases, that means being a customer on one of AT&T's more pricey service tiers. That includes customers who are enrolled in AT&T Unlimited Elite's wireless plan, AT&T Internet 1000's internet plan, and AT&T TV Now Max, DirecTV Premier, AT&T U-Verse U400, and U450's video packages. It's a little confusing; AT&T has a number of cable and video packages, internet plans, and mobile service tiers.

Yup did it this morning! Just downgrade, wait till you get email stating that your plan has changed, then go back in and you should see discount for 1000 internet!
