It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

Internet customers:
HBO Max at no added cost: HBO Max will be included with the AT&T Internet 1000 plan at no additional charge
Is this deal still going if I were to call in and ask for the promo or did anything change?

Log into your account, click the change plan and see what or if they offer you anything. If you have gig speed at a higher price now, they probably won't offer anything. In that case you'll have to try a CS rep in the retention/loyalty department. I assume you have no equipment fee and that is what you want to protect. If you're on a plan, they may say you have to finish it, but many have had nice reps change it on the phone(see the wiki). You won't get any of the reward stuff since that's for new customers, but gig speed at $50 is pretty good.
"I currently have 1gb fiber. I was able to downgrade online without a call/chat rep to the 300 mbps tier, checked back 5 minutes later and saw the 49/mo promo (with additional $10 equipment fee unfortunately) and upgraded."
with additional $10 equipment fee.

Even for businesses, AT&T Fiber comes in two flavors -- Dedicated service (very expensive), and Cheap. The Cheap option is not the same up and down speeds. Nor is the home service.
That has been my experience since getting AT&T Small Business Fiber for a client in SoCal. Cheap, but not synchronous. Also, they filter, even for businesses, so things like mail servers do not work.
Of course, in my neighborhood, no AT&T Fiber. Gotta stick with greedy COX with their data caps.
To add to the slickness of this, AT&T announced that Internet 1000 customers get free access to HBO Max.
