This looks virtually identical in specs to the MSI GE75 Raider that Costco has at the same price. Anyone have any comments on comparisons between the two?

So tempted. Not listed but apparently these Lenovo Legion displays are good, and this has 500 nits HDR. Prior thread here had this at 1299 a few months ago. As the difference compared to the MSI & 15in size

Compared to the MSI, this has a way better display, Thunderbolt 3 + the ability to upgrade to a 76wh battery (at the expense of the 1TB mechanical drive).

Unless the MSI's display size is a major factor in your purchasing decision, IMO this is a much better laptop.

I've had a Y740 2070 for 4 months and love it. I use it all day almost every day and it's never crashed, runs cool. Fans are not too loud. Fairly high benchmark scores because of the good cooling. Nice bright display, 144hz, no ghosting. Battery life is the only really weak point, about 3-4 hours in the best conditions. Keyboard and trackpad are ok but not amazing. Note the placement of the macro keys on the left, some people hate it. I don't mind, got used to it quickly. Lenovo support has a terrible reputation, so buying from Costco would be ideal with their concierge service.

If you buy this, check for backlight bleed. It can be really bad. I had to send my first one back because of it. My current one has almost none.

How do we replace the battery with a bigger one?

Order a battery from the Y740-17", it fits. But you have to ditch the SATA drive.

How does this compare to the Y540 at Microcenter [microcenter.com] (https://www.microcenter.com/produ...---black)?

It looks like the tradeoff is the extra TB storage on this vs. the 17" display (and numeric keypad) on the Y540. What else am I missing?
