This Monolith subwoofer amplifier has an extraordinarily high power output of 500 watts RMS (900 watts peak), which can deliver massive amounts of power when needed. Each Class D amplifier is built around a Texas Instruments 48-bit data path (with 28-bit filter coefficients) DSP engine, allowing virtually unlimited design flexibility with the assurance of no signal degradation.

My living room is about 2000 cu ft, but it attaches in an open layout to another 1000 cu ft den and 2000 cu ft kitchen/dining area, so all in all from a bass perspective its close to 5000 cu ft.

I should also add, it wasn't just an output/volume thing. I was expecting it to dig much deeper and it rolled off pretty quick around the mid 20 hz's. It was definitely clean and tight though vs. my old Polk PSW505 12", but this monoprice 15 looks like its got some good output sub 20hz even.
Try messing with phasing. They could be canceling eachother out. I have heard svs is very helpful if you contact them. So many variables between subs and receiver.

How large of a space are you talking? I just picked up an SVS SB 2000 and hope it fills my 25x14 sized room well. I had heard great things about it.
That's way too big a space for that sub. I had it then went with 2x PB-1000s. massive diff. Then I got 2x PB-2000s. Another quantum leap. But now I need more Frown

Their sealed Monolith subs aren't selling very well, which is why they keep offering discounts. But they haven't offered the same deep discounts for their Monolith ported versions in quite a while. I own the 10", 12" and 15" ported Monolith subs and find the ability to add or remove the port plugs (which are included) substantially increases their versatility. Once set up, I generally leave them out for movies and in for music.
Why do you believe they aren't selling well? Do you have sales numbers? Just curious.

this might help you decide.I own a klipsch 115SW and bought an SVS sealed SB4000 I returned the SVS. My Klipsch outperformed SVS even cranked all the way up. Ended paired my klipsch with a monolith 12 ported instead. The output on the monolith is a little more than my klipsch but they complement my room, go ported for better punch. I added to my theater with 10 klipsch behind my seat and its all good. I'm waiting on the 15 ported to go on sale. will use it a lamp table or to place drinks next to my recliner.

That's the thing with bass... once you get good bass you just want more.

I'm at the point where I need to find a way to dynamat my house and change out all the windows.

15s oos already

I just got 4 Monoprice THX ported 12s for my theater, in the future would I be better off with 4 sealed 15s??? Hmmmm
Yes it would.

Subs are like cars...we all have our favorites.

That said...I'm trying to figure out how they justify the $1300 MSRP for a 12" sealed.

At this sale price I'd rather wait for the outlaw x12 to hit $499 free shipping again. Or at that msrp wait for the X13 to hit $999 FS.

Just some other ideas for those who are shopping.

So tempted, but I am worried that I'll be disappointed with sealed subs for my dedicated theater room. Returning these if I don't like them won't exactly be easy since I don't believe Monoprice pays for return shipping and the 12" are like 70lbs each shipping weight.
Room size? And define "theater room" - is it just a standard bedroom or family room that has been allocated theater duty? Standard rooms may get by with a couple 12 or 15insubs without issue. Dedicated/designed/constructed room, you may want 4, 8, 10, or even 20+ subs in the 15-24" range...

Sealed itself matters less than the size of the cabinet. Sadly, most sealed subs also have smaller enclosures, so that's not doing them any good. My two 18" sealed subs don't need to push past 100W in a 8,000 cubic foot room to have plenty of output (down to 6Hz even), but they each have a Crown amp that can feed each 2000W if I ever wired up 240V and raised the highpass filter. I haven't seen the need yet, especially with the wall, window, fixture noise.

Hoping our next house in the distant future will have an infinite baffle setup - I love IB and some sealed far more than ported or bandpassed subs. The low end extension from 28 square feet of cone area would be amazing, and efficient! IB is just a giant sealed cabinet.

$799.99 is MSRP for the 12''. $1299 is for the 15''.

I would be careful with monoprice. If you have any issues they will make you ship the whole thing back instead of just sending replacement part.

DIY using ultimax drivers. Rock solid for 5 years now. I was always let down with home subwoofers up to the $2k/ea range until I built these - they were the first home setup that brought me back to the quality of the car infinite baffle setup from when I was younger, and they made me move on from my previous Klipsch and SVS units.

There's no replacement for that air displacement (except acoustic coupling), any way that you can do it (cone area + excursion). My belief is that a subwoofer can start to impress when its displacement is above 0.01% the room's volume, and cabinet/tuning beyond that. A 5000ft³ room would perform great with 0.5ft³ or more of cone air displacement. My two 18s combined are half that at 0.4 for 8000ft³, but they still do well compared to other subs I've had through here. They just don't impress like sticking them in a bedroom does, but I don't want to run more cabinet in this space. Hence infinite baffle in my future, with either 8 or 16 drivers depending on the framing options. Hopefully in 10 years!
