Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Tldr; they likely will lock your phone, but stay 50 days and they will unlock it for you
(This should have been my comment in the first place😀!)

Hmmmm... I've gone from Sprint, then unlocked my Sprint phone prior to going to Mint, then went back to Sprint, then back to Mint with no re-locking from Sprint. I'm about to go back to Sprint.

Thanks all for the heads-up that Sprint might actually re-lock my phone =O

Let me say this, before I get hit with a flood of replies saying, "but I was with Sprint for xxx amount of time and they never locked my phone!!!"

I will presumptively agree with everyone who has had a different experience. I never said they will *for sure 100% lock your phone* but that they may. It's Sprint. If we've learned one thing, it's that *ymmv*. So hopefully people won't feel the need to show how I'm wrong since it was different in their case. I have had non-Sprint phones get locked, and others that I expected that they would have (over a 3 year span) that they didn't. Ymmv. But the bottom line is, if you stay (or stayed) 50 days, you should be good.

Port out today if you can. What phone do you have? Have you done Sprint port in and out before?
I am doing it today. Didn't get any time yesterday with all the chaos of things shutting down and busy work load. I have 4 Sprint Phones that are all unlocked and one Moto E6. All my numbers are new and never activated on Sprint. Visible and Mint.

If in case an unlocked phone gets relocked, call them immediately and have then unlock it. You don't have to wait 50 days since it is already paid for and was unlocked from before by Sprint. They can only relock Sprint branded phones and not factory unlocked version. I had an interesting issue. My ZTE Max XL was unlocked. And then during software update check or profile update, the phone got locked. But it was still showing unlocked on Sprint's end. I called the Tech support and asked them to resend the unlock code and then it was unlocked from device end as well.

I don't think they were trying to prove you were wrong. They're just offering their own experiences, just like you offered yours.

"Sprint will automatically unlock the device when it becomes eligible" don't rely on that verbiage, but yeah definitely you can call them after 90 days for D and I unlock, as long as the device has no flags, meaning all paid for and no other commitments.
4 iphones bought from Sams last Nov w\ the gc offer, got unlocked automatically after 50 days.

Same experience here. I mostly use the Google Pixels. My Essentials during that time was locked and I requested unlocked after 50 days and ever since the uicc says locked but the phone is really unlocked. I hope they have learned their lesson on that fiasco.

Good to know. And those iPhones sold at Sam's, Best Buy, Costco etc are, correct me if I am wrong, non Sprint branded phones. Those are the same phones sold by the Apple store? But really good to know they do that. It's always ymmv though.

Guys, noob question.can I order the sprint Sim now and initiate number port (won't use the Sim for 40 days) after 40 days? (My mint mobile service is valid for another 40 days and I don't think they will refund money if I cancel)

You certainly can - but I don't think you will qualify for the promo
