Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

The new line is active now. I started a brand new account with sprint with this number and there is only 1 line which I have added (on my name).
My advice is to port the number out as quickly as possibe. This will free up the IMEI to port back in again. I'm afraid if you call to cancel the account, that it may take time or some doing to get the phone IMEI released. There are ways to port out cheaply but it would take some time. The quickest might just be to visit your local Tmobile or ATT store and do the cheapest prepaid plan available which i think at tmobile is $10. Not sure about Att. Will sprint charge you for service for a day or two? Not sure. Others may have better ideas. Where is comintel when you need him. Edog, Desi,GK. You got anything?

How long do you need to free up your IMEI before you stick in a new Sprint line to be eligible?

For those who have already ported-in for this offer, does your devices got locked to sprint ? Wondering if can still use the device with another carrier sim. Thanks in advance for reply.
I activated a couple of ZTE Max XLs, Samsung Galaxy J7 Perx, and Moto E6.

Two ZTE Max XLs were locked after I did the config update. I called in today. Got connected to the Tech support dept. Since these devices were already unlocked from last year...the database shows unlocked from their end, but UICC tells me otherwise. The tech support was a newbie and was just giving me MSL code, which is just to enter the programming menu and not carrier unlock. She transferred me to another dept (Acct Services). The guy knew what I was talking about and instantly unlocked both the devices. Now the UICC shows unlock for any SIM.

Samsung Galaxy J7 shows it is unlocked based on UICC.

Moto E6 I haven't played with so not sure how to check UICC stuff. But since that is factory unlocked, I don't think Sprint can lock it.

Maybe there is a system bug that relocks some of these devices during profile update.

this might be a stupid question, but do you need an actual phone to activate if your GV number is eligible? don't have an extra phone lying around...

Yes, sprint wants you to give a IMEI that they can support. Do you really need to config the phone and use it to keep the line active or to get the promo? I don't know

But to setup online access, you may need at least one working line/phone

thanks, that makes sense. I see they updated the promo so you can buy a phone from them and it shows up, so I'll just buy the cheapest one available.
