Whatever you choose, it's always a good idea to try out any prospective guitars in person at the store and find the one that feels most comfortable, especially for your fretting hand (left hand if you're playing a right-handed guitar).

I did consider this one as well along with the rogue beginner series..

The other thought is maybe you want to get a nylon string rather than a steel string. A YouTube [youtu.be] on this choice.

Yamaha's entry guitars get fantastic reviews, but based on features alone these two guitar seem very similar. Laminated spruce top, dovetail, etc.

Yamaha makes pretty good sounding guitars for the price. A lot time better than most comparable brands. My son's first guitar was a Yamaha, he still plays it today. I just bought him a classical guitar by Yamaha l wish I saw this deal before I made the purchase. Just got it today. Anyway...it's a great starter guitar.
Man, that Alvarez is a classical guitar. Totally different instrument.
Also, this is a decent deal for a plinker. Keep in mind it's only 15-20 bucks off what most places retail it for. If you're looking for a steal this ain't it, although there is value in banging around with this guy if you don't have one to do that with.
What's a good easier guitar type to start?
