When companies are slowly getting *away* from curved displays, OnePlus is getting into it. After years of denying effectiveness of *wireless charging*, bringing it to the table in a *pro* device. And, then charging as much as Apple/Samsung while having arguably less resale value both in market and in trade-ins.
Well, they finally had a fatal self-inflicted gun shot.
Oh well, reduced the base storage from last year's 256GB to 128GB and still not having microSD card slot. Hell of an upgrade from 7 Pro!!!
At that price... it's no longer a flagship killer. Samsung S20 series when on sale ($200 off S20/S20+ unlocked version currently) or price drop after a few months after launch seems more interesting than OnePlus.

Oneplus used the typical startup business model. Offer an affordable initial product to lure customers and then once you establish a customer base jack up the cost to what you really want to charge.
Oh.. and 5G doesn't work for AT&T, Sprint, VZW, and U.S. Cellular. apparently according to OnePlus "Check carrier compatibility"; only works with T-Mobile, but then 5G isn't really widespread and mainstream yet.
I dont think their price is bad, remember s20 ultra is $1400. Their 1+1 was 299 when samsung was asking $650 for their top phone.
But limited trade-in and resale is concern.
oneplus phone typically performs better comparing with Samsung phones after 2/3 years.
The galaxies have been overpriced for years. Phones struggle to keep their value, this is especially true for Samsung. 1+ phones usually hold somewhat better.

T-Mobile's n71 5G is fine in major markets, including NYC. Only issue is that speed doesn't exceed 4G much, so it feels pointless.
At this price point, I dont see why you would choose OnePlus 8+ over s20... Only thing that looks good about the 8+ is the ultra wide camera. But at 899 is not worth that..
