But mattress still has to be right even if you're doing everything else well, can make or break you if you have back pain. Usually the culprit is not supportive enough (not necessarily firm). If it's too firm, you'll get pressure points, numbness, and you can always add a softer topper. If there's too thick of not supportive enough layers, no fixing that, and that's a back killer- when your hips sink in too much deeper than your chest. JME. And great prices.

Yup this definitely. I stretch daily and feel good through the day but wake up with back pain. I have what I thought was a decent memory foam bed but after almost two years of having it, I have to switch to different areas of the bed every few days or else I will sink in too much and it makes my back hurt.
I've had two tempurpedic mattresses and the softer they are the more my back hurts. I currently have the temper-contour elite breeze, one of their firmer mattresses (though not the firmest) and I have minimal back issues compared to my earlier one that was too soft. We rotate it (note: don't flip it) about monthly. Any mattress including tempurpedic will get softer over time so if you are getting one I'd err on the side of firmer. Think about hotel mattresses and their softness or firmness and which you have done best in. But like all things YMMV.
