have the same question about how soon after getting SIM do we have to activate, but different situation. I only have 1 phone with me now and the other 4 are at a different location quite far away, so I have to make along drive to get them. I do have the IMEI's of all 5, so I assume.I can activate them all online. But I won't be making calls on them (except for the 1 now in possession) until I retrieve the other 4 phones. How much time do I have to do that? (From reading the thread, AT&T will match the IMEI's to the SIMs when verifying eligibility for the gif

Can you do it within a week? Ten days?
More like 2 weeks, maybe even 3. (Covid situation). I need to figure out max. time I have to get my remaining phones and still be eligible for gc's.

Is there anyone at that location that can ship the phones to you? $8.30 for 2-day Priority Mail Fixed-Rate Small Box.

I don't think you're certain of anything.
He is just trying to help and sharing his experience. No body is 100% certain until they receive the redemption instruction from ATT after 45 days. (Maybe more requirements to be met) No one here meets this requirement since this is still a new deal, this is ATT's fault for not providing the full term clearly,

It will work if you do 2 lines on a dual sim phone with 2 different IMEI.
use common sense approach for uncertainty.
Something is clear, this is BYOP, port in, 45 days active service to receive redemption instructions and remain active on att until card fulfillment(card is shipped)
Edit: btw, T-Mobile has a similar deal, this asks for IMEI for each line when submitting rebate info. So assuming att would do the same thing

If you read the wiki, so you may not ask repeating question that is already answered many times

Cricket drops off empty line from account if sim is not activated in 30 days, visible sim will not work after 30 days while mint claims new sim must be activated within 45 days, T-Mobile requires to submit switcher rebate within 14 days, Sprint gives 10 days to activate sim, but most carriers allow activation within 30 days.

Since att owns cricket, so they may have the same procedures. To be safe, activate sim as soon as you can,

Act on your own risk. Don't blame me for just providing DP

this is interesting. Att ships out sim with ported in number loaded on it, if I were you, I will go different route, order online and say get new number from att when ordering(not providing any porting info) , when sim ships out with temporary ATT number, I will call porting department to port in Ebay numbers

In the end, your ATT service is ordered online within promo period, your port over number, and just keep active service until card is shipped.

T-Mobile had a similar deal that just ended 4/30/20, they issued temp TMo number and customers port in to replace it once they got the sim. Still count as port in with BYOP

Edit: you will be fine just using eBay boost number, don't make it too complicated to get order shipment just double make sure with your seller that he gives correct account number and pin so ATT will get confirmation from old carrier after your order submission

called E-COMM and they checked that things were good but wasn't able to push it through manually. Anyone have tips for them to process it right away or do I just have to wait for their automated system to do so?

That is a major NONO

Rep said it could happen but why give already stupid ATT system another reason to screw you? The stakes are too high.

Best way is to sit tight and not change anything until you get that $250 card

I received my SIM cards today.
To Activate, do we know which option should we use ?
- Go to here - https://www.att.com/att/getstarte...mguide/en/
- Step 2 - Option 2 as we are porting the number - https://www.att.com/checkmyorder/...eDevice.rt
- In this step, there are only 2 options
- AT&T wireless device - I assume we need to go with this option as this is not prepaid plan.

insert sim into phone, check your phone number on phone (for iphone, go to settings, then phone, your phone number will display, if still displaying the previous number, reset network or give it sometime to reflect, not sure about android, or just make a call to someone or to second line to see what is the calling number. If it is your ported number, everything is done correctly.
Keep the active service

A couple questions before I go through with this:

1. When they say active, I assume it means I just have to activate it once and then turn off phones. As long as I'm paying the bills, that means active...right?

2. Regarding different phones/IMEI...not sure what to do...i have a couple unlocked phones which i can use for three lines...what about other two? Can I switch out sims in same device? Or should I buy a cheap unlocked phone?

Thanks.

As per the steps it is asking us to activate the new sim cards as per Step 2. After the Sim Cards are activated, we need to insert the sim into the phone.

As long as they said not seeing any problems with your order, check order status few times a day, if it moves from verification on backend, it is now on the porting info confirmation stage, go to att.com/port to see if they send info to old carrier and make adjustments if it asks, if no status check it a few times a day.

That's is to activate your device if you read it carefully, and inserting sim into phone will automatically activating device if it is unlocked and ATT compatible
"Now you're ready to activate your device

1. Start with your new device powered off.

2. Choose from the following options"

sim comes pre-activated with ported number loaded on it if ATT rep who prepared your shipment done everything correctly. Otherwise why they asked your porting info during ordering?
