Tractor Supply YMMV. I saw these on clearance at a store near me for $329.99. I thought about it but didn't purchase. Later I checked on line and another store close by showed $279.99. I bought one at that price. The price shows $549.99 but when you click on pick up at store it will show the price at the store which is much lower.
I am going to assume you need special skills even if you need to weld something simple for DIY project, right?
Youtube can teach you. I'm not very good, but after watching youtube videos I can make two pieces of metal stick together using my cheap HF welder. Practice well improve the quality of your welds.
In stock by me. I have a Hobart 140 mig welder since it runs on 120v. Any excuse for me to buy this stick welder? I'm not sure i'll ever work in heavy gauge material...I mostly just mess around with car/motorcycle/lawn equipment.

I'm not a welder and never have, I'm buying a old 4x4 and gonna take my time restoring. Knowing that background, what types of metal can I weld with this machine?

Same here. And my son just completed his welding class last year.

Depends on what you're planning on welding. I can't recall ever needing a gun welded, so I'm at a loss to visualize what you would weld.
