Just a comparison that I am aware of:

Visible ( Verizon ) - 40 bucks/month on no-contract plan ( 25 if you join party plan ) unlimited with only 1 device tethering.
Tello ( Sprint ) - 40 bucks/month on no-contract monthly plan, 25GB LTE, 64Kbps afterward. no limit on hotspot.
Venn mobile ( Sprint ) - 30 bucks/month no contract plan, 50GB LTE, 2G afterward. No limit on hotspot.
Mint ( T-mobile ) - 240 a year, 12GB LTE data, 2G speed afterward. No limit on hotspot
Sprint kick-starter - 25-35 bucks/month, unlimited. No tethering nor hotpot allowed.

Redpocket is excluded because I had bad experience with their ATT prepaid plan.
The Walmart plan is better. The Walmart is $40 for 25 GB a month with up to 8 GB rollover and the entire amount is HotSPotable.
The thing to keep in mind with Prepaid is it's only that carrier's towers.
You're stuck on whatever carrier you sign up with, unlike roaming where ATT users can roam over to T-Mobile and vice versa.

It may not matter to you, but that's the trade off.

I jumped from AT&T to Verizon prepaid and data speeds too a big drop for the most part. This was in Dallas. The upload speeds were almost laughable. .50mbps upload and 35mbps download. In Chicago it seems to be a lot better though

Is that Walmart plan still available? I got it for both my daughters. Fantastic plan.

Important to note that this is unlimited. It's just potentially throttled past 22GB.

Doesn't the Walmart deal require you to purchase a phone? And I think there were a few folks that had issues with porting numbers or what not, just curious.
