Manage your money and investments, see your bank, credit card, investment and retirement accounts in one place. Track your investment performance for informed buy and sell decisions, and make tax time easier with custom reports. -slickdewmaster
I tried this software when this sort of sale last appeared and I was sorely disappointed. The linking of accounts rarely worked, and the unnecessary complication of simple tasks was a big turn off. Plus if you have Wells Fargo (not sure if it applies to other banks) you have to pay an additional $10 A MONTH just to connect to Quicken. Fair warning.
This is a pretty good deal if you have non-trivial investments that you need to manage. Mint and similar tools don't have the flexibility if you need to keep track of stock options, non-public equity, personal lending, etc.
There are pretty extensive investing reports built-in that are indispensable..
If you are after basic "balancing your checkboox" and budgeting then you should be just fine with Mint or Simplifi or Quicken Starter that usually comes free with TurboTax. If you'd rather install something on your computer locally then there is GnuCash or FrappeBooks (though they don't really automatically download from your banks).
That is definitely Wells Fargo's fault - they aren't exactly known for consumer-friendliness..
hmm, going online and using Mint.com seems to work pretty well.

This one is a thumbs-up from me, if only because the Premier edition rarely seems to go on sale and normally costs $44.99/year. As long as Quicken users are getting dragged into a frustrating subscription model, might as well save a few bucks.

Regularly available at $29.99/yr
I believe only the cheaper Deluxe edition is available for $29.99/year. (recent SD example)

The point stands that Wells Fargo sucks in many ways, though technically it's $3/month (source[wellsfargo.com]) unless you're a business, and technically that fee is optional if you don't mind wrestling with the fussy Web Connect connection method.

You can manually download your Wells Fargo and many other Big Bank accounts to Quicken for balancing your accounts. It's more work than automatic downloads, but it's free.
Does anyone know if I buy this now, can I activate my subscription for next year? I just got this in May and my one year subscription will not end until may 2021. Do they email you an activation code when you buy this? Thanks

Keep the activation code until less than 6 months to the expiration of your current sub, only then you activate that for another year.

I just upgraded from Quicken Home & Business 2017 to Quicken Home & Business 2018 (2 year license) a few days ago since my license just expired and I couldn't download financial data anymore. When I saw a message after upgrading that my license expired, I was concerned that my 2018 version license had expired (due to being 2 years old and, maybe, no longer supported?). It was all OK after I plugged in my activation code and the 2 year license started on the upgrade date, not the license expiration date or any date based upon the age of the software. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if a license activation code wouldn't work for software considered obsolete or no longer supported. But, with relatively recent software, even with Quicken's forced march of upgrading, you can still get the full term of the license purchased. You may not have the latest Quicken, but at least most of the software bugs should be worked out.

sounds like a good time to take your business away from wells fargo

Also, codes are good for 24 months, so you could buy 2 of these, use one near the end of your current subscription and another near the end of the next.

Been using this software since 2000. Not convinced with the Quicken "subscription" service. In this time of uncertainty, what would happen if they go under and/or gets sold to another company? Been burned in the past with subscription services, prefer to pay upfront for guaranteed functionality in the future and peace of mind. Migrated easily to Moneydance and could not be happier, hope it stays that way..

Any feature you miss from Quicken going to Moneydance? Any new feature that Moneydance has, but Quicken doesn't? Do they keep it updated with new features?

Edit: My mistake, that is the deluxe version.
