Disneyland doesn't use magic bands
FYI - if you're going to Walt Disney World and staying at resort hotel, you'll get a MagicBand for free. It will NOT be themed, though - just a solid color.

Resort guests can choose to pay extra to upgrade their free, solid color band to a themed one. The price varies anywhere from $10-$20+ on upgrades, so this is a great deal IF you like one of these bands.

MagicBands only work at Walt Disney World - currently no other Disney theme park uses them.

For non-resort guests, your MagicBand can be used in place of your physical ticket. Your ticket, FastPass+, and PhotoPass can all be accessed using your MagicBand.

For resort guests, they unlock your room and allow you to pay in the parks (they charge back to your room) in addition to the features above.

I have tickets for Disneyland that we didn't get to use due to them closing for coronavirus but they won't refund so we'll have to use them later this year or something. Would these be useful there or only Disney world? We have fast pass or whatever on the tickets and I seem to recall there being some differences between how that is handled at the different locations.

Same deal was posted a few days w/ free shipping. The Enfys nest band sold out really quick so I'd say jump on it if you're wanting it. Excellent price and has cool sounds effects and light when you scan it at Disney

Thank you! I missed this the other day. I've always been jealous my kids have a themed magic band and I don't 😂

There's also been some rumors that whenever DisneyWorld reopens, they could make magicbands mandatory for everyone to enter.

Family usually goes to Disney World twice a year. Had been to Disneyland once prior about 11 years ago and wasn't impressed in the least. Went again last year and was shocked they still hasn't upgraded their systems there. They are about 20 years behind Disney World right now. Customer service was still top notch, but just keep expectations low if you've ever been to Orlando. Not at all comparable.

A bit off subject, but the good news is that your tickets don't lose value. I had tickets for Disney World, but now our trip is postponed until next year. While my tickets officially 'expire' Dec. 15th, they still hold their value. So, if I go say, next Feb and Disney decides to raise their prices, I just need to pay the difference of what I paid before and the new price.

Of course, check with Disney, but I've been told it is nearly impossible to get a refund on Disney tickets.

No, Disneyland doesn't use Magic Bands. Magic Bands are used at Disney World for park tickets and hotel resorts.

current thoughts are that similar to Shanghai, you will have to have a Disney resort reservation and they're only going to open a small number of "walk in" tickets for the parks. All tickets at WDW are essentially "no touch" anyway because even the hard ticket is an RFID. The "cleanliness" issue is that they make you scan a fingerprint with your ticket.
