As someone who has four Briggs & Riley bags (one currently in need of repair), I have to say the lack of local repair centers has really diminished my perceived value of these bags. As local luggage stores continue to close their doors due to online sales, the B&R "Simple as That Lifetime Guarantee" value proposition just isn't what it use to be.
Totally agree. Had a B&R Transcend carry on that got completely destroyed on a flight. Attempted to get it replaced or repaired. Ended up having to pay for shipping to get the broken bag to them. Then they couldn't fix it and offered to send me an Explore Commuter Expandable Upright since that was their closest match they had in stock. I declined because it was a downgrade and they eventually agreed to send me a used version of my bag which wasn't in great condition. Long story short, their lifetime guarantee isn't what they advertise it to be.
Scooped one up the last time they had a sale. I got the Tall carry-on and am very impressed by the build quality. It also had good ratings and someone mentioned it in the previous thread deal. Thanks OP!

At least they offer a replacement, I had a Tumi alpha for 5 years and they couldn't repair it under warranty. They. Wanted to charge me $120.00 to fix a missing wheel. For $700.00 you think that they will repair under warranty.
Do you or anyone else have experience with the new (I think) lifetime guarantee that covers airline damage? Before reading this I had thought B&R was the only company to offer this
Wow, expensive. And the way the luggage handlers toss luggage around and the "nasty" conveyor belts. These must be private jet luggages
Better quality luggage holds up better even if it's not immediately obvious. Still not sure if it makes more sense to buy cheap throwaway $50 bags every year or two, or pony up for the good stuff and hope it lasts 5x longer. As a previous frequent traveler, it sucks when a bag fails mid-journey.
seems like good deal. just a general luggage question. it seems to me like spinner luggage cost a premium but the added benefit of the easier roll (which is questionable IMO) seems negated to me by the loss of space you get by having wheels outside the frame. i personally prefer non spinners for this reason as you can get more space in the same height requirement. does anyone else feel this way?

Still very little from the desirable baseline collection.
