Editor's Notes & Price Research

Sporting a gorgeous zebrawood veneer over the classic maple top/mahogany body combination, this SE Custom 24 brings a new look to a classic PRS design. The tonal versatility of PRS' 85/15 "S" pickups with coil tap and the PRS-designed tremolo bridge let you easily go from subtle to outrageous, looking great all the way. -slickdewmaster

Just FYI, these are now made in Indonesia instead of Korea if it matters to you, despite what the photo shows on the back of the headstock (general consensus is that Indonesian/Cor‐Tek models are a step below Korean). You'll want to replace the cheap nut with a TUSQ XL, and even with the swap, you'll likely have tuning stability issues. PRS now offers drop-in SE locking tuners for $80-95, which will help with that. I have 3 SE Cu 24s (all Korean-made) and they are very nice, other than my notes above.
Every single point you made is wrong.
They have identical electronics and tremolo. Both have coil split humbuckers.
Both come in a gig bag.
This guitar is gorgeous!! Too bad the wife says no to any more guitars until I can learn to competently play one of the ones I already have Frown.

Beautiful guitar. Check those inlays. No experience with PRS. This is a 25" scale.

Was NOT a PRS fan (owned a S2 Mira and Custom 24 but just didn't click with me for some reason... "sterile" "too perfect" come to mind)... but more recently purchased a Silver Sky and love it. Which led me to a PRS McCarty 594 (Les Paul'ish guitar). My take on PRS is this: their attention to detail is perhaps second to none for production level guitars. They still give a bit too perfect impression (which is more a personal thing). On fenders & Gibson's, it seems there is a bit more "character" ... a bit less tolerance maybe more organic feel. I would say that PRS can be an acquired taste but when you get used to them, they become amazing guitars ... I am still getting used to mine and maybe it is all just getting used to different headstock, growing up on LP & Stat shapes, etc... but PRS are superior guitars .... if I were to buy my sons a new guitar, it would be a PRS probably like the one posted here - they are that good. My 594 MCCarty was expensive as F but worth every penny. I would think PRS SE line would be a notch above most guitars in same price range and wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.

Thanks for the info!

My experience with PRS has told me that people should really put it through it's paces before keeping. They are beautiful instruments, no doubt. They are built to a standard that other makers should pay attention to.

I was in an anti-LP mood for awhile, and looked at a similar model. I found myself struggling to EQ a tone that really resonated with me. That being said, I picked up a semi-hollow and I fell head over heals. I think that one was made in Indonesia as well.

Good luck to the buyers out there! The last concert I went to had a lead guitarist with a zebra stripe 24 like this. It's really nice in person!

Nice price on a nice guitar! The lowest price for one of these used on reverb is still more expensive than this price from musician's friend.

Love PRS. I bought a Starla 2 months ago and now thanks to the OP ordered this. I better sell a few to make room for this one.😁

I've read your all's posts on the QC, etc. on PRS, and that seems to be the theme across the internet, but how does this guitar compare to the Gibson LP Tribute that was on sale a month or two ago? About the same price depending on which Gibson, but playability, sound, stays in tune, etc? https://slickdeals.net/f/13867004-gibson-usa-les-paul-tribute-dc-guitars-and-basses?v=1&src=SiteSearch

For anyone considering the zebrawood vs the cherry sunburst:

* Zebrawood has coil split switch, to switch between humbucker and single-coil. The cherry sunburst does not.
* Zebrawood pickups are in parallel, and cherry sunburst are in series.
* Zebrawood has a tremelo bridge. Cherry sunburst is fixed.
* Zebrawood does not come with a gig bag, cherry sunburst does.

You spent some time writing that up. Maybe spend a bit more time being correct, instead?

As others have said, this information is incorrect... but in your defense, it's wrong on the musiciansfriend website.

Does anyone know of any coupons or cashback that stacks with this deal?
