10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

I recently switched from spectrum to this fiber deal, I constantly lag streaming YouTube and playing video games. The claimed 900mb download speed is also false, I routinely get around 400mb plugged in. If you have spectrum call and tell them you will switch and they will offer you 400mb for 50$ a month. I think I'm going to switch back to spectrum. Also instalation of all equipment took about 2.5 hours for me, but they came about 3 weeks after they said they would.
Sounds like your switch/ router is limiting your speed when connecting to the AT&T modem/ gateway.

Are you all sure you are switching to an unlimited plan? When I click the link I see:

"Incl. 1TB data/mo., overage chrgs apply."

I pay $100/mo for unlimited but would (could) not switch to 1TB/mo even for half price!!!

It's like a trick to get people off unlimited. You know like cell phone companies used to do. Wait a minute....
So you would need to download over 20MB every minute, every hour of every day of the month to approach 1TB data limit.... wat'cha doing? Stealing the library of Congress? 😁

Hi,
I am with Spectrum for internet speed for 200 mpbs and really thinking about switching to this promo.
Anybody who has this service can chime in how reliable att service is compare to Spectrum?
Any advice would be appreciated.
AT&T fiber has been very reliable in my neighborhood, always up & running when neighbors are posting about outages. Speed is very consistent.

I was paying 100$/month for 1GBPS. I called the customer service and the first rep told me that you are not eligible for the offer. Then I asked her to connect to the loyal department. They offered me $59.99/month including device charges.

Cord cutters. VPN for work. Kids. We were 800gb/mo before quarantine every month.

HD video can use 50mb per minute and 4K video uses up to 200+mb per minute so I don't think that's really unreasonable if all your television is streaming. Esp with multiple TVs and users. Honestly I just would rather not have to worry about it.

I'm a cord cutter also. My best purchase was to get Tablo, an over the air tuner setup. I put an antenna in my attic, and hook up to the Tablo. It can record 4 shows at once and stream to my Roku on every TV. All shows are recorded in uncompressed HD. I get over 60 channels from over the air, of which 15 to 20 are ones I watch.

Whenever the internet went out when I was on cable internet, we could still watch our TV.

Most of our recordings are from Tablo, not streaming. AND I can skip over the commercials!

Thanks I will check that out. I was looking at air2tvs and the Fire Recast but both have major downsides so I have a good antenna setup but no good way to use it.

Same. I just threatened to cancel and reset up under my spouse name. They acquiesced so some how I got 49.99, no $10 fee and they just added a monthly rebate of $12.99 my bill is extremely weird, but I'll take it! But HBO max isn't working. Oh well.

Ok, so retentions helped me get the plan. I was on 300 plan which started in Feb. Initially he told me that since the HBO plan started just yesterday, I won't be eligible for it.
I persisted and ONLY asked him to give me the 1000 plan for $49.99 which was offered from 1st March. I argued that I started my service only a week before so he should make an exception.
He relented and later told me that HBO Max is also included in the offer. Score!

So my advice, focus on getting the 1000 plan for $49.99 and HBO Max will automatically show up once you login.

The point is - the tax is less than $1 so you stating its from the modem while correct doesnt mean there is hidden tax somewhere else. The only idiot here is the person who is trying to win a race thats already over before they started.
