10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

Great deal!!! Initial call to billing would not lower to this rate, they even said there were no promos. Didn't give up!! Asked for Retention, immediately they offered to lower my rate to this promo, even grandfathered in my modem for free since I was a long-standing gigabit account. Had been on the service for 30 months at $90 per month. Now, all-in for $49 per month for 12 months w/free modem. YMMV on the free modem since I was grandfathered. Thnx for the SD!

I have att internet 1000 but it says I am not eligible for hbo max when logging in and selecting att as my provider.
Same issue here. Tried multiple times and no luck.

Can anyone tell me if I could use my own modem with att fiber? Or do I have to use their gateway? Thank you for any info.
You can, it's sort of involved. Google dumb switch bypass.

Its about 70 bucks after taxes and fees. You will need to add a router to their modem/router combo because it sucks bad.

My 70.00 Comcast (with modem) is up July and goes up to 90.00 (no data cap) so I'm looking closely at jumping ship to AT&T for 12 months. Just need internet/wifi.

Has it been worth it for those that have switched?

I'll be giving them a call today. I pay 100 + change with them now.
So your $100+ is what to expect after the first year expires? I checked and they cut the speed for my area but retained the same price.

Please let us know if you have any success in re-negotiating. My price goes up in a month for myself.

100% yes, I'm so much happier. Whenever I do a speedtest, I get an average of 930 down and 960 up, incredible speeds. Oh and ATT might even waive the unlimited data add-on for the first year, which I got as a throw-in when I signed up last summer. Even after the year, it's only $30 add on if you do need unlimited. With Comcast it was $50 for unlimited add on.

I used to own my own modem for comcast to avoid rental fees, but I don't think you can bring your own modem to ATT. When I signed up, there weren't any compatible fiber optic modems to purchase, and I haven't looked into it since. Regardless, it's still a good deal. Last summer I signed up for $70/mo which had no modem rental fee, and came with unlimited data cap. This new plan of $50/mo with a $10/mo modem rental is still cheaper than what I'm paying now. Oh and I don't know if it varies by state, but I get charged $70.00 per month to the penny, no taxes or fees.

But I would definitely recommend turning off the wifi radio in their modem/router, and using theirs just as a modem. Hook up your own router.

Existing customer with two months left on promo. Regular price $100, was paying $80/month after promo (no hardware rental fee). Just called and got it dropped to $60/month with no hardware fee. Pretty happy with that price (plus the HBO Max).

It's not a symmetric connection. 1GB down speeds but itll be a crappy upload speed unlike Google Fiber. Disappointing.
In my case, I live in a brand new building and fiber is in my closet, and to the gateway thing via an ethernet cable, wired Inet is 930 up and down. The installer said many people get far less because their fiber is a block away and inet runs over the phone line to their house.

My issue is that with their gateway-wifi router, we get about 200mbps wireless to computer , tv, or phones. Its plenty fast, but why so much loss?

Tech says ATT doesnt warranty any wifi speeds, and says up to speeds are quoted at their equipment wired.

Good to hear this success story, I'll be needing to call in when my year promo is up in July. When I've tried to negotiate with comcast and ask for retention, I swear they were laughing at me, called my bluff, and said they'd be happy to cancel my service right then and there laugh out loud

Currently on Spectrum and decided to check availability in my area.

"AT&T Fiber isn't available at your address. Good news, though! You still can get reliable, fast AT&T internet.

Check out your available speed below.

Internet Basic 768kbpsInternet Basic 768kbps $49.99"
