10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

100% inaccurate information. The charge is for the RG rental, not the ONT rental. If you cancel your service, you do not return the ONT, you return the RG. Also, lots of people use "router" and "modem" interchangeably. In this case, we're talking about the RG or Residential Gateway. Also, there is no compatible "modem/router" for AT&T Uverse that a consumer can purchase, which I agree is silly. You can feel free to buy one on eBay or Craigslist, but know that it will never work because it is stolen property. If you did get it to work, you'll still get charged the rental fee.

OP - Change the title to say 1Gbps or Internet 1000, not 1GB. GB = Gigabyte, which is what you'd use to measure a file size or allowable monthly throughput on your account. Gbps is Gigabits per second, which is a measure of throughput speed.

It's not a symmetric connection. 1GB down speeds but itll be a crappy upload speed unlike Google Fiber. Disappointing.
AT&T also has 1Gbps upload.

Media converters (Fiber to Copper) can be bought anywhere. They run about $150 for a 1Gbit converter.

I wouldn't let them install if they had a media converter. I want fiber up to the ONT I'll pull copper from that into my firewall. ONT goes to bypass mode and my firewall takes over.

(Did this one year ago with them )

I've had the 300 AT&T fiber package. Just upgraded to the 1000 with this deal. In my area, the fiber connection is symmetrical - meaning upload speeds are the same as download.
Thank you.

Signed up on Wednesday, installed this morning. I believe I have 2 $100 Visa gift cards coming from promo codes that popped up when I went to sign up. Average speedtest.net speeds are 350-375 up and down. Process couldn't have been smoother.

I have att internet 1000 but it says I am not eligible for hbo max when logging in and selecting att as my provider.
I just ran into this too and fixed it. What you need to do is go to your account over view page where it shows you your balance and there should be a box that says "Included on us with internet HBO MAX - Start Watching". From here you can set up your profile and it will work after this.

It's interesting that their previous offer - which I took advantage of last month - was $50 including equipment fee waived for the first year (also had the same $100 rewards gift card). Now they've added HBO Max which is usually $15 but their offer no longer waives the equipment fee for a year... Questionable whether that's a better offer depending on how much you value HBO Max.

Personally, I like this because I still have no $10 equipment fee for 11 months but was able to add HBO Max for free. As far as their service goes though, it's been top-notch so far. Lowest we've ever gotten was around 600 Mbps. Most of the time it's above 900 Mbps.

I'm considering switching from Cox. Do I have the ability to get multiple IP addresses on 1 account with different computers? I can't get that from cox so this isn't a deal breaker but would be a nice to have
