10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

I think I've been proven wrong about 15 times in this thread already, but your logic is faulty either way.

The "converter" previously installed is still their property so charging for it still makes sense regardless if its old, new or previously installed, but moot point since folks said its the modem with its authentication on board.

I seem to have things backwards.... apparently the modem/router has the authentication for service built in and that cant be bought (stolen property if you do if do find it for sale). the converter box is not the proprietary issue. Still though, you cannot bypass the $10 fee.

Wished they offered it at my address; the highest speed they offer to my address is 50 Mbps. I have comcast gigabit, but it's double the price of this. Frown

Their property and they don't ask you to return? So they just throw away it? Smilie I had to ↩️ the router when I ended the service. So, nope, ur logics is faulty.
