So I guess there is nothing you need to do in order to receive unlike first one, at least it was for me.

I am FAR from an expert regarding this, but my understanding is some sort of authentication is done on the gateway so it needs to be connected but you can configure passthrough so as to use it minimally.
However, I've read that if you know what you are doing technically you can configure that authentication to occur on certain devices and then disconnect the RG.

Interestingly, my google wifi is telling me that I'm getting 600 plus when i perform the internet speed test on the google wifi app.

Hard wired to PC ethernet: 700/700
Hard wired to laptop with ethernet to USB dongle: 300/450
Wifi 5Ghz - 250/280
Wifi 2.4Ghz - 100/120
I found that the USB dongle, despite being rated for 1 gigabit connection, does not run that fast, so might be more of a hardware limitation.
How is your google wifi connected? I would say if you aren't getting speeds that you are hoping for, then it is an issue with anything downstream like your router, cables, switch, etc.
