Lenovo has the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (7th Gen) with 10th-gen (Comet Lake) Core i5-10210U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 14-inch matte non-touch 400-nit Full HD display, and 3 year warranty for $895.95 after discount code THINK45 (do not use the WEBSPECIAL code posted on the Lenovo site).

If you qualify for a teacher, student, senior, or military discount, you can bring this down further, to around $850.

Yes the 8GB RAM is soldered. Yes it's LPDDR3. Yes Lenovo is a Chinese company. But if you need an ultraportable (weight 2.4 lbs) for typical business/consumer uses, this is hard to beat.

Display Type: 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, low power, anti-glare, 400 nits
Memory: 8 GB LPDDR3 2133MHz (Soldered)
Hard Drive: 256 GB PCIe SSD

So you are already maxing out on RAM already and yet, you think 8GB is fine 🤦 ♂️
Soldered RAM is a hard no for me which sucks because there not a bad price for a carbon.
I absolutely love my X1 Carbon but could never recommend one with 8GB RAM. It's too much money for that.

It was $1000 with one year warranty before. Good find.

Nice screen and nice processor but 8GB ram is pretty poor longterm. It seems like every computer <$1000 has some sort of sacrifice. Nothing in that price range with 16+GB ram (or max ram even), 350+ nit 1080p screen, backlit keyboard, 10th gen i5/i7, and 256+GB SSD. If and when it comes around I feel like it would make a killing.

I've seen lots of these threads with the "yuck it's soldered" or "yuck only 8GB" comments. Yes, I wish the RAM weren't soldered, but it's been that way for most generations of the X1 Carbon and more and more laptops are going this way. And most users are totally fine with 8GB - with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Zoom open, plus 12 tabs in Chrome, my computer still uses only 7.5 GB of RAM.

every time shows "Authorization failed, please contact card provider" I've tried to order it and have tried over few times without success. I am based in the US and all my credit cards are in great standing with no fraud freezes, etc. The item will be shipped to a domestic address as well. Shame on Lenovo for such a poor online ordering experience. DON'T BUY, DON'T WASTE TIME!!!
I've had the same issues trying to order an X1 this year. It's so frustrating. I don't know why my account is triggering their fraud criteria. I've ordered laptops in previous years without issues. Has anyone been able to solve this?

Nice laptop. Had an older X1. But resale value is poor. Goes from 900.00 to 300.00 in a few years. Sold an older macbook for almost 500.00 the next week. And yes, 8GB is not much today.

The T490 is a good option and has a ram slot...
