Milwaukee tools are in the top-tier when it comes to power tools (which I would also include DeWalt in that tier), but you will usually be paying a premium (setting aside this sale for a moment) for premium performance. If you are a DIY-er and are on a budget, then you might consider Ridgid or Ryobi (both actually made by the same manufacturer). I would probably steer clear of Porter Cable just because I don't know what will happen with them. They are owned by Stanley Black and Decker and they recently purchased Craftsman from Sears (and you may have noticed Craftsman tools at Lowes now) and Craftsman has been marketed as a mid-tier tool for them (with DeWalt being their top-tier and Black and Decker as their lowest tier in a good-better-best setup where PC used to be their mid-tier). Anyway, you won't likely be disappointed with a Milwaukee tool... just maybe a little lighter in your wallet as you expand your collection.

You don't need to return the free item. Just order one for store pickup and one for delivery and cancel the one you don't want after the order goes through.

Are the people at the order pick up likely to have an issue with this? Transacting with half the order canceled?

Just picked up my vacuum. Zero issues using the method mentioned all over this thread. Hit the order button and then went into order details on the Home Depot site, cancelled the batteries and then picked up the vac about 4 hours later.

Did this for 3 tools. I picked up all three at the local home depot. Zero issues at all. I canceled the batteries right after I ordered the tools.

I did the same thing. Ordered this morning but wanted to wait to cancel the batteries until I picked up the tool this evening. Once I got it, I went to cancel, but it will not allow me to. I'm assuming now I could either contact CS and deal with that, or receive and then return the item?

Should I do the cancel method if I want those batteries for prorated prices? Are they run 200$ regular? What's the cheapest way to get some batteries

Before you get a 5.0 and a 2.0 for this price you can probably spend ~$100 on eBay on an unopened 8.0 - they use the new 21700 cells. Much better bang for the buck.

Worked great. Cancelled battery shipping to home from order confirmation email. Tools were ready at the store in about an hour. ** Also bought some $20 off $200 coupons from eBay for $5. Saved a little extra that way Wink

Considering its a different sku altogether with different receipts as well. It shouldn't be a big deal to return even if they cannot cancel the item at all. But lesson learned I guess for future purchases like this.

They did just now in my case. The gentleman at the counter noticed that part of the order had been cancelled and that the price was too low for what I was getting. Would not let me pick it up.
