Free tools have been patched. Checkout is now a reduced price for tools. By cancelling the batteries you still get about a 50$ discount on the item which is still really nice. 179 sawzal is like 119.

I wasn't able to cancel the ship to home component of my order. The SKUs are separate and different prices are listed so shouldn't be an issue to return the batteries after they arrive, correct?

The tools were never free. The whole point was to order the battery kit for shipping in order to cancel it and get a discount on the tool Stick Out Tongue.

I did it. Setup a home depot pro account and they send you a 20 off coupon over 150, used that. Got the light for 121 and some change. Sold the batteries on Offerup for 230. So, all in 68 bucks for the light. My home depot has them marked down to 179 though. They are hidden and were marked down back in 2019 and they didn't take the stickers off.
I just signed up for Home Depot Pro. Waiting for a coupon but going forward with his deal and the Rocket light (and I must be the only one on this thread who doesn't have the Rapid charger yet and needs these batteries lol). After signing up for Pro I was offered a $5 off coupon for signing up for text alerts for my orders so I took advantage of that one too. Woohoo $5 savings haha!

Scratch that! I got my $20 off "welcome" coupon within two hours and used that for this deal. Thanks for the heads up and repped.

I've been looking out for deals lately, and I've been leaning towards grabbing one of these impact/hammer Dewalt drills. I've been wanting the 2804 drill from Milwaukee tho. Is this a really good deal for the drill/battery kit if you can get a 20% off coupon to tack on to it? I've always used tools from work and now I'm currently without a set of tools (recent job change & covid preventing new purchases) and my own tools have gone to shit.

Brands make their money on getting you hooked on their product line. When the C3 line died from Craftsman (Sears) I needed to move on. I have more money now so, I wanted to get one of the "good" brands. I had been on 19.2 Craftsman since the NiCad beginning as they were very good back then for a homeowner. I still have the 75th Anniversary Kit (1982) with a monster drill driver and small circ saw and light and it all still works after like 29 years. It was like one of the first cordless kits ever for homeowners.

Well, even I have limits so Hilti was out and it came down to Milwaukee and DeWalt and I thought about Makita. DeWalt had better and more choices imho and Home Depot had some really good deals when I was ready to jump so that was the direction I went. I'm not sorry. Oh, interestingly, for outdoor "tools", I ended up going with Ryobi as they got so many choices...

Honestly if money is an issue (like young new homeowner/apartment dweller) I'd go Ryobi... If you got a few more dollars to spend, I'd look at one of the "big three." I'm actually surprised that Makita doesn't push the starter kits more as they also have a huge line of products that most people don't know about and they aren't very good at communicating they have. If you are rich, well, you can spend whatever you want... And if you are a contractor, then you really pay attention to quality, reliability. I always pay attention to what "real" workers have to say about products based upon many many hours of use in the field.

And since you see many opinions from them the "big three" it is often a matter of opinion. Of course DeWalt has essentially high quality contractor level tools AND cheaper versions. You get the black and yellow, but it pays to research before paying as some are no better than Ryobi for quite a bit more. Milwaukee and Makita tend to stay more true to a contractor level set of tools...

Just an observation...
