Micro Center has refurbished TCL 55R613 available for $299 in store pickup. They also have the refurbished 65R613 for $399 https://www.microcenter.com/produ...efurbished

For what it's worth, I asked a tech support rep on MicroCenter.com if the 55 was manufacturer refurbished, and he said it was.

This is my first deal post if that wasn't obvious enough

Micro Center would rule the world if they ever expand
The TCL 6 series is one of the best TVs I have ever used. I'm really tempted to get the 65 inch TV, but $400 is just okay for a refurbished TV and they have known banding issues so it's a gamble. If it was $300 I would jump on this regardless, but those are enough things to keep me away especially when I got my 55 new with warranty for $500 from Bjs almost two years ago.
Performance wise, the R613 is a good deal better, Whether it's worth it is hard to say. These are refurbished models. The R series has had notable issues with banding and dirty screen effect. I'd imagine that's why so many have needed refurbishing. Hopefully they fixed the issues. I'm not sure I'd take the gamble. I'm also not sure that I won't, though.

Would it be worth it to upgrade my 65S425 to the 65R613?

Its an upgrade but like half of one unless you can sell the 4 series for good amount and 6 series does have some issues so there is a little concern there too (I got a 55r617 and works perfect out the box but ymmv with refurb).

I reserved one in Fairfax, VA for pickup on Saturday. I opted for the $29 2 year extended warranty to help ease my anxiety about the refurb status. Seemed like a small price to pay to at least feel better even if the warranty doesn't play out perfectly.

I was holding out for a deal on the newer 55R625 but I'm not sure the upgrade is worth it at this price.

For anyone else in the same boat, here's the comparison: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...5/613/1591

I had a 50" Vizio plasma from 2006 until June 2019. I upgraded to a 65" LG C8 OLED. I just got my brother this 55" TCL 6 Series and set it up for him. I really wish I had got it for him before I got my OLED. I'm so disappointed in the TCL lol..

I had the opposite reaction. My friend has an LG B9 that I have watched a lot on so I thought when I got my 65R625 I'd be seriously disappointed. There's a difference, no question. But I wouldn't even consider the B9 after seeing the TCL. The price difference is absolutely insane for the difference in performance. Plus the downsides of OLED? No thanks.

I bought the 55R17 TV for my bedroom and perfect right out of the box too. Zero issues.

I just scored an open box 55in 55S425 from BB for $179, I really wanted the 65in but couldn't pass up a deal. Is it worth returning my 55in and grabbing the 65 refurb from Microcenter? I really wanted a 6 series as I've heard they were so much better. Thanks!
