Thats not correct, there are some 7 series models that are IPS panel. Recent costco booklet mentioned that its IPS panel (picture attached). Rting mentions these 7 series 4K IPS panel tv as one of best for computer monitor.

Looks like it's finally showing the right price. Grabbed one for outdoor patio. Anybody have an opinion on pairing this with either a Sonos beam or playbar? It's a smaller patio so don't need it to be really loud.

Looks like it came back in stock today, it had been sold out (for me at least) for around a week. That's the TV I would recommend at this price range.

For those who upgraded from a non-4K: I have a 55" hdtv. I heard at this size, the HDR makes more of a difference than the 4K, just curious for others' thoughts? In our living room, we sit actually a bit back, rough estimate 10-12' which I read is not ideal for this size esp to tell difference between 4K and non-4K.

Also what do you all with your old tv if you replace with this one and don't have room for the old one anywhere else? Do you just try to sell it on Nextdoor or Craigslist for like $50?

Finally is this one made in Mexico, like a lot of Samsung's, instead of say China?

LGs website says this model is made in Mexico.

I have a TCL 6 series (2018) and the wider color gamut, brightness, and contrast are much more noticeable than the resolution increase to me. This is true of non HDR content as well.

If you are happy with your current tv size I wouldn't worry about the distance too much. At over 10' though you likely won't notice much difference from just upgrading resolution.

I mean, I did qualify that these are bad "for the money". There's just TV's in the same price range with better picture quality, better motion handling, a wider color gamut, etc etc. They aren't horrible, just not as good as a TCL 6 series 2018, or a 2019 Vizio M7, or some of the Hisense offerings. If you're looking to spend $1800, LG is the king of high end TV's, but they suck at budget/mid-priced options.
