Serious question. Is there any reason to use intel in a new gaming or build? Everything I keep reading over the past few months seems to say they are getting left behind in price and performance by amd.

I've only ever owned a machine with an intel cpu so that's new territory for me.

Gaming performance as of now is still in intel's camp. If you are building a new gaming only machine from scratch, then intel is still the way to go and especially the 10600k as best value to performance with slight OC to match or beat the stock 10900K in gaming performance for most games. For everything else or hybrid, it is best to stick with AMD. If you are going for only value gaming, then AMD 3600 paired with b450 mobo is the best deal. The combined cost is cheaper than the 10600k alone and gets you around 90% gaming performance of the 10600k for most games.

This. For the price of the i5-10600K, you can get a 3700x which is 8core/16 thread with a nice wraith prism cooler (aside from the RGB, its actually a pretty good cooler). I went cheap and got the ryzen 3600 which has a much inferior cooler, really miss that wraith prism!

I'm on the fence too. The 3700x is roughly the same price, but finding a motherboard is a pain in the butt. Anyone saying to get a nice b450, I laugh at you. Waiting on b550 back order is about it. Motherboards are roughly the same price for either platform. I'm considering returning my 3700x and going intel.

More cores and threads, more power needed. Along with an Integrated gpu, Lol what do you expect?

You'd be absolutely insane to build a gaming machine with AMD. You want Intel with FAST RAM and good cooling. The people pushing AMD are fanboys and benchracers. Anyone who knows anything is buying intel. Applause

AMD is for people who sit in their parents basement running Cinebench on loop while laughing manically.

Don't listen to this guy. This is a typical FANBOI guy.

Userbenchmark.com rates this as faster than a 3700x based on real world samples

10600K faster for 1080p/1440p gaming if have high end GPU since boost clock is a lot higher.

In most scenarios you want AMD, but the 10th gen i5 is not a bad value. The i3 and i7 are hard to justify when compared to their AMD counterparts. I9 is still objectively the best for gaming but if you're buying that you probably don't care about bang for buck anyways.

Any comments on this for a Photoshop user? Trying to decide which way to go on my next build.

i7 is fine if it sold at tray price

Core i7-10700K $374 (K) / $349 KF

Core i7-10700 $323 / $298 (F)
