That's not right. It is possible to just use the Google nest wifi router alone with Verizon. It depends on what type of Verizon box has been installed. I have the newer version that is fairly slim and I have been using Nest wifi since Jan with speeds of 300+ mbps.

Unfortunately not. Simple Version: In most cases Verizon gives you a Modem+ Router.
The Modem allows the internet into your house, the Router allows you to connect to it (wifi or ethernet).

These are just routers, so you still need a modem.

You can Keep your Verizon modem+router and connect these (Nest) for better Router coverage.

I don't have Verizon, but most ISP's provide users with a Gateway (router with modem built in). So you could probably use this, either as an addon to the Gateway (not ideal setup, double NAT), or use this Google setup with a new dedicated modem.
