Dumb usb chargers work just fine (hence the recommendation of the official power supply). Also the cost of these "smart" chargers plus the special usb c cable often cost more than the Pi itself. (who uses a $50 charger + $20 cable to power a $35 Pi?)
Thus right now it isn't much of a problem, but could be in the future when a Pi newbie unaware of the usb design flaw landfills a Pi because it won't work using their macbook charger.

V4 will do plex?
I'm using the 2gb version as a Plex media server with openmediavault for easy file access and transfers. It's great. Much better than the 3 was.
Not sure what firmware the pie came with but the video software does have the option to update it. Libreelec has pi4 software if anyone is interested.

Yep that is what I heard. Else I can use this for my backup ADSB receiver.

1. Besides the official USB Type-C cable, Pi 4 V1.2 is compatible with other Type-C cables as well.
2. Move the WLCSP SD card voltage switch to the top side to protect Pi 4 from damage.
3. Tweak the silkscreen to reduce solder bridging in manufacture.

A pre-fix pi4 works fine with the 10+ USB c cables I own. Much more than the one that comes with the official charger.
