Last deal had 30 upvotes at $280 via Amazon. This is directly from Segway and you can get an additional $20 (which drops it from $199 to $179) by signing up for their emails.

Coupon code: WELCOME20

https://store.segway.com/segway-drift-w1

Update from OP: Use code STAYSAFE19 instead of WELCOME20. You'll save one less dollar on your order ($19 instead of $20 off) but Segway will also donate $19 to Americares to help health care workers. See attachment for more info.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

"As far as rideability, the tiny wheels, unfortunately, mean you need a very friendly riding surface. We're talking ultra nice concrete or the like- minor seams, no rocks, pebbles, twigs, or curbs. Aside from the rubber anti-slip ramps our sidewalks have, which these cant cross due to the huge dimples, your everyday sidewalk panel seams are brutal on the tiny wheels."

"They are much more physically taxing to ride than I anticipated. I think most of that is what I'm going to call the "tiny wheel effect." You spend a great deal of energy maintaining balance over "rough" terrain."

"Only Fun On Smooth Surfaces. Wheels Are Hard & Stiff. Can't ride over small bumps or cracks"
I was part of the kick starter for these 2 years ago and spent many many hours on them and consider myself an expert. Here are my thoughts:

They are only fun on wooden floors or very smooth concrete surfaces. A school gym or an empty shopping mall would be the dream environment for these.
These are toys, not a mode of transportation
Bumps, cracks and uneven surfaces are huge obstacles and not worth attempting.
For most people (including myself) they are very scary at first. Even for those experienced with other personal electric vehicles.
Once you get it they feel as natural as walking (It took me about 3 hours of focused practice to get to this point)
These days, the only time I find myself using these is while sweeping the wooden floors of the house. It makes it a lot of fun and speeds it up quit a bit. This is probably the only practical use I found for these.
The most dangerous thing you can do on these is try to ride on one skate. I almost cracked my head open twice trying to learn this.

Are they worth $300. Absolutely not. Are they worth $150... only if you have been eyeing them for 1 year+ waiting for the price do go down. In my mind they are worth about $89 as an impulse buy.
These are terrible. Use them for a week and you will be doing perfect splits.

TY. Yeah, I'm not daring enough to try them. I'd be surprised if they hit the $100 price just based on the technology/cost of manufacturing them but maybe one day?

Fantastic response. I got so much hate in this thread, but my position stands.

This is the answer for adults! For kids:
Smooth floor is still recommended. Somehow my children figured out a way to sit on flat top where your foot would normally be, and lean forward and backward to make the thing go. I have no idea how they're making turns around the house, but somehow they do and they race and chase each other around the house. These things are powerful enough that they can pull other kids behind them on blankets like a trailer. Because it only takes 1 to ride in this mode, our pair allow for two children to zoom around the house.

Onewheel not extreme enough for you? How about double one wheels?
I've seen a video of a while back ago, where someone rode 30 mph on two electric skateboards.

It's only a matter of time before we start seeing personal flying devices. And then over redundant measures to control and protect the airways
Just imagine flying over a neighborhood and the flying constabulary tell you to "STOP, you're going too fast!". And then soon after you hit the air brakes, and proceed for a citation.

I would buy this if the roller skates resembled a pair of tacos that could be ridden around town in.

Is there different speed modes on this?
for example is there a blind mode where a blind person can stand up riding around on these with his blind kane out in front of them?

Not really related, but I'm sure others will break it down why.

Well.... Not related in line of this product but is directly company related as it states the company will be no more and things will be def downgraded by being picked up by Chinese based company ninebot picking up the name. As we all know majority of China based companies are cheap poorly made lacking quality or when they pick up a former company name the attributes are all downgraded to near junk. So yeah, basically this does relate to someone looking to by a product by this company as it reflects many aspects of it.
