Nah. Try Sam's Scan and Go and you'll wonder why you're waiting in line at Costco.

According to the fine print, the $40 gift card and $40 off $250 online code are mailed 4-6 weeks after you activate the membership, but they also both expire on Dec 31. Keep that in mind if you plan to wait a while to activate, especially with all of the delays various delivery services have been experiencing lately, which are only likely to worsen as we get closer to Christmas.

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.

Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.

Yes, you have about 11 months to do that.

Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

Edit: After a lot of thinking, I don't think I personally can justify a Costco membership even for ~$20. It's a bit of a drive, I've found many cheaper alternatives elsewhere, Costco is a luxury/not a necessity, and this pandemic will likely go on for a lot longer - lockdowns or not. Also... while this is the lowest deal I've personally ever seen for Costco, they MIGHT make a better deal later on. Check out your local Aldi for groceries... and, again, ethnic stores or smaller grocery stores - if you have them

I don't shop there often, as my membership lapsed... but family goes there for gifts sometimes. We also like their muffins, cinnamon sugar butter bread, premade meals... I know a number of people that like their cheap foodcourt for outings, but that's not really a selling point during this pandemic, since it's somewhat not as open, and people aren't going out as much. Costco also has given out food samples, like Sam's Club, but I don't know if that's going on during the pandemic either.

Honestly, if you really shop deals, cook stuff yourself, and if you have ethnic markets near you, you might just overall save money by skipping it entirely. For example, there's some mexican supermarkets near me that often have crazy deals on strawberries (like $1 a package), other veggies, etc.... while Costco, in my opinion, is on the pricier side for produce and all that. It might be more "organic" type options, which always cost more & seem to have produce that is more aesthetically pleasing...

A lot of what Costco has seems somewhat higher end. I've heard they require manufacturers that make their Kirkland products to make the product actually better than their normal one to sell it at Costco. (Turns out to be a rumor, true or not - this link refers to what I'm talking about: https://napkinmath.substack.com/p...annibalize ). Also, a lot of people really like Costco for their warranty. It's less than it used to be, partly because a few people took advantage of it... but they tend to have better return policies than many other places.

I think Costco really caters to moms who just want to buy everything at one store. It has a lot. It's just that you would probably save money if you took more time to shop around deals elsewhere. They do have markdowns on some products now and then, which aren't always bad.

Here's a deal site for Costco specifically: https://costco97.com/

Also, I think this is like the "ad" for Costco - https://www.costco.com/daily-deals.html

You could also do a search on SD for Costco related deals to see what people say. I think sometimes for laptops, people have mentioned extended warranties, maybe with a certain credit card... but always check the fine print before assuming things
Great post. My Sam's membership just expired and I mostly use it for gas and discounted gift cards. I am sure I've made my money back from the savings because I got my Sam's membership free from Groupon deal. Right now wife is pooling her friend to see if Costco is better. This deal might be a + factor but I share the sentiment. We're going to go around the store and see if there's anything that we might buy regularly. Otherwise, we might skip all together.

That's the way I read it too. Cash card can be used online or in-store and does not expire. Just be sure to combine before 1/31/21 (online coupon expiry date).

Do you receive the coupons by email?

Do you still count as a new member if you've been someone else's +1 recently or does that count as a membership?

Hmm after I put in the Costco eGift Card into Costcos check out page, the payment information to put in my own credit card disappeared. Do I just continue checking out without entering my credit card info?
Same here. I have gone through al 4 of my email addresses too.

I don't think anyone else is seeing it either at signup. People reported from previous deals that signing up for auto renewal right after signing up for the membership and you will get the vouchers. That's what I did

Is there any indication from Costco or Groupon that is what we are supposed to do? Their video that shows how to redeem it doesn't show this.

I have never had a good experience with Groupon. When will I learn!!!

Idk but what about Costco attracts people? I can't get options to choose from and also I find many items cheaper elsewhere. Does anyone feel the same?
It depends on what you're looking for. My family finds their OTC medications and medical supplies to be far cheaper than any other store, especially when they're on sale. Even those which are available as prescriptions with insurance or GoodRx are usually still cheaper at Costco. I buy Kirkland-brand Lactaid (the lactase enzyme to treat lactose intolerance) there. I've compared prices at every store and website I could think of and no one comes close to their price. I buy my allergy medication & vitamins there, too. Just in the health & beauty department alone, I save the price of membership every year. I've been shopping with a family member who has a membership, but I've been waiting for a deal where I can get my own membership, just for the convenience. Costco even ships many of their items for free at the same price they would cost in-store.

Been waiting for this. Was able to stack a few things:

urlhasbeenblocked - 4%cash back ($2.40)
urlhasbeenblocked - $10 cash back for spending $10 (targeted email so YMMV)
Discover - 5% cash back reward for paying through Paypal ($3.00)

With the $15.40 cash back + $40 Costco card I was basically able to get my membership for $4.60. Will be even better if I can find something to use that other $40 off $250 online.

Great deal today! Thanks!

I cant really find in the comments I've seen people say you get coupons mailed 4-6 weeks. Did you get your coupons instantly?

So Costco let you join online now? No need to step inside the store?
