The $40 Costco Gift Card will be Mailed to you within 4-6 weeks.
You can enroll in auto-renewal at the same time you complete your online redemption if your state requires you pay sales tax. Tax will be listed under Order Summary on the membership checkout page.
If Tax is listed as $0.00 in your Order Summary, you will need to enroll in auto-renewal after redeeming your membership. You may do so under the Membership Details section on your Costco confirmation page or from your Costco Account Details page.

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.
Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.
Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

My town does not have a Costco, but there are two stores within 2 hours of drive. I have been paying extra so far to avail free shipping with Sams plus membership but it doesn't seem to worth much to me (personally), plus I'm so done with their bad customer service. So I am thinking about getting Costco membership based on if they offer free shipping on items.
However, as soon as you check out, it'll bring you to your new Costco account homepage where there's an option in the middle of the screen that allows you to set up auto-renewal and add any VISA prepaid, debit or credit card number.
Can I use the same email address or should I make another if I qualify?

I've been a member in the past and found out that the huge variety of good just encourages you to shop more and go over budget - its why it was always full of people with loaded carts filling up their homes and maxing out credit cards.
Its worth it for purchases which save you a big chunk, such as some electronics, tires, gas, services etc but I don't use those that often. A lot of the essentials you can find for same price in smaller quantity at places like Smart & Final and you won't waste any.
I guess with pandemic bulk shopping makes more sense, but not sure if its still worth it.
