Still good for backup internet source and phone. Like for emergency or when you are mobile. I can use it on an asus router as a fall over internet source. I have t-mobile g7 power thats rooted so I can use unlimited tethering on it when comcast goes down. You could also always use it as just another internet source for more bandwidth. Though it might get you kicked if you do that to much. I edited my post above so you can know more about google voice.

Would this work on simple mobile right out of the box, since it's a tracfone? I know when powering up a simple mobile phone, they say tracfone. Just curious.

Last year (2) G6 phones after discounts for about $30 each I think.
Still using them too.

Yes, Moto G6 has all network bands (DL model), don't think J3 does (VL model) so limited to Verizon.
