Have not seen a thread yet for WalMart clearance prices on grills. I have been watching grill prices for a few weeks now and have seen a few. These are just gas grills or combos.
YMMV on all of these. I scored the second one listed today so check the WalMart app for prices by you.
Have also seen several blackstone griddles on clearance if you are into that type of thing.

1) They used to be hands down the best grill available in America. They weren't cheap but they were still the best value and the quality made them a great bang for your buck.
2) This gradually changed starting around 2007. They still make a quality grill. But at full retail price they simply arn't that great of a bang for your buck anymore. The quality has decreased just enough that along with price increases they have formidable competition in every price range.
3) They rely somewhat on their brand name and previous dominance. People compare them against cheaper grills rather than grills in their same price range. Here is what I mean by that. Is Weber better than Charbroil in general? Yes, absolutely Charbroil makes a bunch of cheap grills and only a few good ones. But there is no point in comparing a $500 Weber to a $250 Char Broil. In the $500 -$600 range you can get a Weber Spirit 3 Burner, Broil King Signet 3 burner, Broil King Baron 4 Burner, or Napoleon Rogue 3 Burner, as well as the Char-Broil commercial stainless 4 burner which is quite a bit bigger and has a side burner. Is the Weber Spirit clearly better than those grills? I personally would never pay full price for a Weber spirit and it ranks 3rd or 4th among those IMO. You can do this comparison all the way up and when you get into the higher price ranges $1500+ the Weber may be the best or only grill in that range in the big box store. But in those price ranges IMO they have even less of a leg up on the competition but much of their competition is only sold through authorized dealers or online and they may not have a model in the box stores.
Bottom line: for the features you get and the current quality I don't think Weber is the clear cut best in any price range. While in the 90's and early 2000's the Weber Genesis was miles above the competition and many of those grills are still running today. You are paying for the Weber brand name, long term customer service, and availability of parts. They still may be the best choice for some and probably still the best all-around grill brand. The bang for your buck simply isn't there unless you find a unicorn deal and I would compare paying full price for a Weber to buying an I-phone. The I-phone may be the best phone for you. But did you get a good deal? No - you paid retail price for an I-phone because it's your favorite phone, you like it, you know how to use it, and you know what your going to get and you have been buying Apple products for years .... NOT because you got a good deal.
Edit: No grill lasts 10+ years without new flavorizer bars and most of the time burners/grates. Replacing these on an expensive grill is the best route most of the time. But if you are not willing to replace a few parts then spending $1000 on a gas grill is simply not for you. If you are not even going to clean your grill than even a $500 grill is not for you.
Last fall I bought a new set of flavorizer bars for my 15 year old Genesis Silver C. It will need them soon, as I've lost about 1/8" up the sides to rust. You just have to clean them off every once in a while.

Ive owned a pit boss pellet for three years now. Only issues were a couple auger jams but was able to clear them. It was caused from broken pellets and saw dust building up. I bought it on clearance for like $200 or so. I tend to use this one the most because it heats up quickly. My wife likes it because the smoke flavor isnt super strong. Its built to similar $400-$500 grills. Wont get 10 years out of it, but 3-5 should be fine. If you really take care of it it will definitely last longer. I keep a cover on it but it stays out all year. No real cleaning either. No rust on exterior of mine, just on the metal grate that goes over the bottom to deflect heat. Grates are still fine.
Ive owned a vision kamado for 6 years. Besides the bamboo tables looking awful and having to replace them it's been perfect. $450 from sams club. Its made in the same factory as pit boss and louisiana grills and others. Goes 900+ degrees easily. I use this for burgers and steaks. It can do a lot more. Hardware isnt as nice as kamado joe or BGE but performance is the same. If I had to choose one it would be this, but I like pellet because its way more convenient.
Weber makes a fine grill, but I would rather have kamado over that any day. Pellet grills are awesome. They just dont get as hot but it has a flame broiler and you can kind of get a little sear from the flame broiler.
