HP owns Compaq also.
Where you got that ? Any reference ???
Maybe they didn't anticipate this much traffic on this item?
Been happening to me since last night. Even Walmart chat can't submit an order.
Pandemic has changed electronics market.. Specially for chromebooks..
This one with good config and less than 500 bucks is good for stay at home schooling...
2. Is this a rebadged Acer? Not sure, doesn't look like any modern Acer
3. Is this a rebadged grey label Chinese OEM? Likely
4. Could this be a Walmart's new venture into the PC world? Possible, Walmart's Overpowered/Motile just don't have the same name recognition as Gateway. Anyone older than 25 probably has fond memories of Gateway. If Walmart want to use the Gateway brand to sell their grey label computers, I think it is actually a smart business move assuming they can make a deal with Acer.

Got a free Epson printer after rebate. It was a slick deal back then at the local Gateway store. Also, picked up 256MB sandisk at Costco for $47.
Netscape Navigator, (pre-AOL) Winamp, and (pre-AOL) ICQ forever.
2. If a laptop has soldered RAM why would anyone buy it.. run junk computer.
3. RAM is easy to upgrade.
4. 8 GB of RAM is more than enough for 90% of tasks. " The time when more than 8GB of RAM becomes useful and starts paying for itself is when you're running several resource-heavy applications simultaneously -- especially image or video processing (even 4K video), CAD, or 3D modeling." ZDnet.
I guess I am that way from experience, data and facts. 16GB of RAM sounds cool and if I built a computer I would probably put it in. But is is not needed for 90% of people out there who surf the web.
My wife's Dell with 4GB of RAM does anything she needs quickly, 8GB would be great I guess but 16GB gets to be a waste. But I will tell you that as soon as her 256GB gets filled up with photos and videos I hear about it.
Again, this is my opinion backed by 30 years of computer experience, data and facts from multiple reliable resources, but it's still not the law of the land. What works for one person may not work for others.

Reinstalling windows isn't too bad. I just added a M2 drive to a laptop with a 1TB 7200 drive and it works great. But it was a bit of a pain to get the system to recognize the M2 drive as the boot drive then get it to boot on a USB drive to install Windows.
For me, just piping in RAM is much easier.

Don't know if Bmorn has 'licensed' the brand. I'm gonna guess Gateway ordered this laptop from Bmorn instead.
And here is the report Bmorn sent to FCC for approval:
