I got the email, but as an fyi I think it will only work for people subscribed to their newsletter. I was thinking of doing this and getting another 970 pro, since the 980 pro won't be MLC, but I get tax returned at b&h, so really that keeps this from being a deal. UNLESS I can get a good deal on newegg gift cards, but I don't see any.
Prices really are tanking. I want to pick up a 1 or 2 TB nvme for my game library but I don't NEEEEED it right now. I just really want it. But I also want to see if prices get lower too. Decisions, decisions...
I wanted 1TB to 2TB for my MacBook Pro 2014. As I needed an adapter for NVME to work. Question, is this Gen4 same as Gen3? The adapter only works as gen3 I guess...

Gen 3 refers to PCIE gen 3 while gen 4 refers to PCIE gen 4. Your Macbook only supports generation 3. A gen 4 SSD should be backwards compatible with a gen 3 slot, but its a waste of your time and money since you won't be able to take advantage of any of its features. For Macs before 2015, I don't recommend upgrading to NVME unless you know what you're doing since some tinkering is required and technical knowhow on the limitations of your specific device. Macbooks from 2015 onwards are seamless to upgrade.

I checked online, upgrade is ok, the adapter will not work on some SSD, like the evo plus, but works on evo(previous version). from what I learned, upgrade is easy as long as un-plug battery before doing anything.

Hibernation is a nightmare to fix on pre 2015 devices. Unless you want to disable it. Patching it is a very intensive process that any newbie should never attempt.
I'm not trying to discourage you from attempting the upgrade. I just want you to be knowledgeable of what it actually entails. It's not as simple as just shoving in an adapter if you want all the features to work.

I was able to obtain the %10 off by entering my email in the coupon code spot, you'll be notified that it's for subscribers only but if you agree to join the mailing list the code will be valid. I'm sure this will be others' experience as well.

Thanks...I did a lot of research today, at least I know what am I supposed to do now. The only question is what SSD should I buy from that list. I have external SSD for backup stuff, therefore backup before upgrade isn't a problem anymore. And thank god I downloaded the HS before apple close the upgrade download from the App Store, I'm not going to any higher than what I'm using right now, it's not like I'm going to use it on gaming. For the hibernation thing, there's way to disable it, well, sleep mode is ok for me. I shutdown my laptop from time to time Incase cpu get damage somehow. Anyway, thanks for very useful information. 2015macbook is better than 2014, but there's no way I can get a better one online now, besides if I'm going to buy a laptop, I would buy something that support VR, which current generation laptop is better than MacBook from years ago.
