Had Brazilian, Tanzanian pea berry, and Colombia. Trying Costa Rica next.
Was originally skeptical that I'd be able to tell the difference, but it's very obvious. Brazilian is my fav so far.

Calm down coffee snob. Maybe some people don't have one locally.

I buy from vilar imports on eBay. About $5 / lb. tons of options. Roasted fresh every day.

I looked them up the price is about $5/lb like you said but when you buy 5+ pounds. I thought the point of fresh roasted was fresh. It usually takes me about a month to go through these 2 pound bags so it's no longer fresh at that point.

Solution: Drink more coffee
On a more serious note, these coffee deals are notorious for clearing old stock. Meaning that if there is a roasted on date, there's a decent chance it's a while back.
Vilar has always been fresh for me, though I will be open to something local once things are a little more "normal." Takes us about a month and a half to go through 10 lbs, so there's a good chance that my last grind is fresher than your first grind of "big brand" whole bean.

I have a general rule of thumb to not purchase coffee beans that do not have a roasted on date but that said If you buy something that's larger like this you should break it out into a couple of ziplock bags suck the air out and throw it in the freezer.
My butler takes care of all my coffee roasting needs.
I have used Gran Crema and others from Lavazza in my Gaggia superautomatic. No issues at all. Medium roast in general is ok. It's the dark roasts that tend to be oily.
