It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

Another method that should work is to purchase gift cards to places that you already will be spending money like grocery, gas, home improvement stores, etc. If you can be disciplined to only spend those when you need them, good on you. Also you can look into paying any big bills like insurance or other companies that don't charge a fee (some charge 3%).
Some merchants report more data to the card issuers than others. Some are catching on to the gift card game as they can tell what exactly you are purchasing. If kept within reason, it usually isn't a problem, but extreme GC purchases might trigger an account review.

Doesn't it affect your credit to close credits cards?

Also, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card by chase seems to be a better offer, 100,000 bonus points after spending 3k in 3 months + 2x points on all purchases.
Marriott points suck. It was better before but now a decent Marriott room is like 15K++ and usually more like 25K a night. Versus Hyatt where most Hyatt Place will be 8K a night.
Type in a search for Marriott and Hyatt points value. Marriott is about .08 cents. Hyatt is 2 cents, more than 2.5x the value.
Math wise, 80k Chase points can be 80k Hyatt points which equal 200k Marriott points.
The only thing better about the Marriott is a bigger footprint around the world.

Dang, so basically anyone with a CSR card can't get this deal, that sucks....
I think that depends on how long this offer is available. Does anyone know how long offers like this stay alive?

I signed up for CSR in Aug 2016 and the UR showed on my 2nd statement. So need this offer to stay alive another month or so and I'll try to apply.

If a person applies for a card and in the application also lists an authorized user, does Chase run a credit check on the secondary user as well?

Curious. My wife has the Preferred over 4 yrs ago and she just canceled the card about 4 months ago. Do you think she can re-apply and get the 80k bonus ??
I can't get the card, I have the Reserved.
the rule is 2 years after the last time you received the chase bonus. the fact that she canceled it a few months ago makes it an excellent case to apply again

Nope, only the primary cardholder gets their credit checked.

The rule for Sapphire cards is actually 4 years, not 2.

Good to know because the AU could continue to have their credit report frozen.

Separately, and this has not been answered. Can I use my email for an application for my wife? [She prefers texting and is not into emails; go figure!). I use this same email for my own account with the credit card company. Thanks.

Bonvoy points compared to Chase Ultimate Reward points is like comparing dollars to pesos. You get the point?

If you have CSR, points are worth 50% more when you redeem for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. So, 80K points are worth $1200 toward travel.
