I bought it early august and very happy with it. Now buying a second one for my other speAker. Sounds nice to me. There is noise with rca but im not too bothered by it. It helps with audio lag when i stream ipad app to tv.. and sound follows to the app. I found that it is app dependent whether bluetooth is streamed.. as one app will not. But most of my apps did bluetooth fine.

Any idea if when you adjust the volume is it increases the volume level on the optical out?

I bought this about a month ago and am very happy. It is set up in garage running a quality pair of tower speakers and a powered subwoofer. Source is an alexa dot via Bluetooth. I turn this little amp on and it automatically connects to the alexa by Bluetooth ( after being paired first time in the alexa app). I then stream whatever audio desired through the alexa. No popping. No loud connection noise. No static or feedback. Plenty of power and volume for my jbl tower speakers.

How do you have the sub connected? Are you going L/R speaker wires to sub high level input and then from the sub out to the tower speakers?

My sub has a built-in crossover, and high and low inputs. (speaker and line) I suppose I could use the RCA out to it.

EDIT: Update to note I have a powered sub. ( https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/s...ers/psw125 )

Someone mentioned in the reviews that they are using aptx hd with this.
So I'm curious, should I use the optical output of my Chromecast audio into this device, or just use the apt-x HD? Is there a way to use Chromecast audio from my laptop, other than through the chrome browser?

Not sure what you are asking. If you are asking can you play music to the Airpods from this, the answer is no.

This is a Bluetooth receiver, not a transmitter.

I have no idea how to hook up speakers and a sub to my pc.

I'm doing this exactly, bought it a month ago to replace a T2020 basic amp. Powering two passive satellites (Logitech Z-5500, 67W each) and then the RCA out to an older Paradigm 12" 500W active subwoofer that I bought used. Ideally your subwoofer has an adjustable crossover so you can blend to your towers/satellites.

I am only using the analog or BT into this setup (optical output from PC is used for headphone DAC) but I have no hiss/noise issues.

It has been a great setup with amazing range and volume for cheap. Amp $40, Z-5500 satellites $5, sub $40, cables $15.

Google is your friend. You need an AV Receiver if you're passive - or buy a powered set and your audio IO panel should have a variety of colors to use for setting up multiple speakers+subwoofer. This BT receiver might cut it with 50W output to your drivers. It's probably worth a buy and return if it doesn't fit what you need.

He does not need a receiver. This device has a built in amp.

He just looks at what his passive speaker is rated to and decides if this 50W per channel is a good fit for him. You can always under drive the speaker or over drive them and just keep the volume lower to be safe.
