Carrier: US Reseller Flex Policy
SIMLock Status: Locked
do you know if carrier name changes once flex policy phones are activated?
also, for phone ordered yesterday, some guy from best buy called this morning to confirm sprint account info because he was trying to "pre-activate" the xs max before shipping it out.
so this step by best buy may be what locks the phone to sprint on apple's server. and perhaps the ymmv on when a best buy rep gets around to complete it is what determines if it's received as unlocked or not. which would explain why the phone from 2 weeks ago was showing unlocked through xfinity tool, but not anymore.
1. Does this mean it locks to first SIM inserted, regardless of whether it is Sprint or another carrier?
2. If locked to SIM after activation, looks like they got you by the kahunas for the first 2 months as the only way to unlock the phone is to have service for 40 days.
3. When the Best Buy dude called, to ask info did he ask for the PIN # of the port out number?

When I saw this thread, I thought its good deal for $400. But if I add up all the charges and activation fee, tax its comes to $537 with some headache to get it unlocked. Also, needs to create an account with credit check (Not sure hard pull or not) and go through all the steps for 2 year old phone is not good at all..
There may be few who will say its great because they have existing sprint account or use their network which is easier for them. Again, everyone sees deal differently.

The challenge is how to keep the phone but cancel the port in so it doesn't go through.
What puzzles me the most is that in for the port in the ordering process, it did not ask for the port number PIN .

If you like this deal.
Buy the phone
activate the phone with sprint (Do not mess with this because you will have issues). Deal with sprint and get it unlocked
and use with different carrier
If you have sprint and need old devise good deal. These are worth $400 now not more.
Carrier credit pulls for new accounts are always hard pulls.
