Is this really worth porting for a $70 with taxes as I don't have chance to get a free line?
It would at minimum pay your cell phone bill for two months and maybe some left over if you only activate one line. Like the other BYOD deals of late (Sprint and Verizon), it's more of a money maker if you add more lines. Buying ATT numbers off Ebay is a low cost way to do that. You could even do this deal using Ebay ATT numbers and never touch the service/phone number you use now.

For those coming from Sprint >> ATT >> T-mobile, I have one such number with ATT right now. When I tried to process hook-up discount using that number, it took me to a login page with url starting from "fed.sprint.com".

I assume it implies those numbers will not be eligible as port-in even though they come from ATT.

So I just did the "Free Line on Us" promo via Messenger. I asked the rep to immediately port my AT&T number to the new T-mobile sim. Do I submit the $250 rebate now, or wait until the SIM is delivered to my house?

Well they are giving low end free phones on free line, if you need one. So, it's obvious that free line has nothing to do with BYOD.

Do you really think they are going to give away a free line and a $250 gift card for that free line? That seems a little rich don't you think? I mean if it does that's awesome. But just seems unlikely to me.

If I port in a number during this promo and port out a different number to numberbarn (I always got a number or two parked just for promotion like this), do I still qualify for the $250 prepaid card?

If you see my comment above, I believe they might not be eligible for this offer. See attached error I get for one such number while enrolling it for hook-up discount.

Also I assume there will be promotions for iPhone 12/Pro... should I focus on the iPhone 12 trade in promo instead of the $250 gc event?

well, thats hookup discount screen.

per t-force, if you are porting in from ATT, 250 byod should qualify, prior carriers doesn't matter. hope they are right.

It is discount screen but the error assumes the number is still with Sprint even though it is not.

You are mixing things up.
The Insider promo (Hookup) has different terms. You can't apply for the discount if the number you typed has been with T-Mobile or Sprint in the last 90 days (if I'm not mistaken, check the Insider terms).

You can still port these numbers to T-Mobile.

However they might not be eligible for the rebate because the rebate terms state if you "cancelled lines" in the last 90 days, you must reactivate them before participating in this rebate. It is unclear what it really means and if they would include Sprint lines as "cancelled lines". Maybe they want to avoid lines that were with them (Sprint/T-Mobile) 2 months ago, moved to AT&T, and now porting in to T-Mobile and requesting the $250 rebate. It's up to you to take the risk.
