That would be a sweet deal then. I know I added 4 new lines with TMO thru Costco in July. I summited my rebates for $100 each line that same night. Then I ordered 4 new phones from TMO online by doing a upgrade on those lines. Well anyways those lines qualified for T-mobile current promos because it was done within the 14 day remorse period.

I bought 2 iPhone SE 2020 for $200 off each, a one plus 8 for $350 off and a iPhone 11 for $700 off with eligible port in plus trading in a iPhone 8. So most people on Slickdeals told me I would not get both Promo. Anyways I just checked on rebate status yesterday and I was approved for all 4 rebates and it said mailing date was 9-17. I'm pretty stoked about this deal.

Quite a few of us here have problems with zombie Sprint accounts. I got around it by using my daughter's name for this T-mo deal. Some people went to a store and let the agent sort it out, but you'll have to pay $30 activation fee for each line (no charge for SIM in-store). A few other members called Sprint Credit Dept to get the accounts closed. I haven't heard how successful that went.
I tried porting from Sprint to T-Mobile in-store in early August but was unsuccessful. I end up switching to AT&T. Not sure if there's still a problem porting from Sprint to T-mo.

You can't do that as sprint is part of T-Mobile

I wonder whether the phones types really matter. All they are after are phone numbers being ported from different carriers, aren't they? So I would venture a guess that actual phones (unlocked or locked to Tmobile) do not matter. Anyone else has more detailed explanation?
Bring your own device, means it is unlocked. Now you may say i have sprint iphone 8 which i bought outright but was not unlocked as i left them before 50 days. It may work but could be a reason for $250 byod claim denial

Thanks. That is TMO's Number Transfer Center. How did they verify you? Did they have to send you a confirmation code by SMS before starting the process? Since most of us are using porting numbers purchased from eBay, we cannot receive TXT messages until the number activated.

Funny you mentioned that. I'm in my early 60s, my daughter is in her early 30s. Her first name is usually a girl's name but some males also have that first name. After I placed my order using my daughter's name, a sales rep unexpectedly called to confirm the order. She asked to talk to (my daughter's name), I said "This is he". She seemed to be taken aback for a few seconds, but went on with the call and approved the order.Big Grin

If you want something to ponder, you can be added as an authorized user on your father-in-law's account which will allow you to make changes, add user... [t-mobile.com]. Presumably this can be done with a phone call [t-mobile.com] after the account is setup.

So if the rebates are being sent through SMS, does that mean we would need physical phones in our possession for each line we port in to receive the texts?

After sleeping on this one mode day, I decided to pull the trigger. Got four numbers, secured Hookup code (thanks, Reddit!), registered one of the four numbers on the "Insider" portal. Order for 4 lines (Magenta) has been placed; they are supposedly shipping SIMs "Ground" and not the Second Day Air as some mentioned. Will see. (*)

Hoping it all works out. And yes, I do happen to have four older phones I can use (two Nexus 5s, one LG Artisto, and one Pixel 2).

(*) UPDATE: received follow-up call and spoke with an agent. She bumped my shipment to "Second Day Air". Cool!
When you registered one of your numbers on the insider portal with the hookup code it took you to a login page? What to do after that? Thanks

Not sure if it really was a log in page but rather more like a registration page. Had to enter name, address, and email. And that was that. Received the following splash screen afterwards with the tracking ID and submission date:

Thanks. We've received your submission. Here are the details. We can't wait to welcome you to the T-Mobile Family! Your code for 20% off Magenta voice lines is now registered. Next step -- call, chat or visit a store to speak to one of our experts to join us! You'll bring over (we call it, "port in") the phone number you registered to start activation on your new account. We'll send you a confirmation text once your account is active and you'll automatically start saving! Use your tracking ID below to track the status of your submission.

Here are the exact terms of the offer:

"2020 BYOD P1
Promo Code: 2020BYOD1
Start Date: September 18, 2020
Rebate Value: up to $250

After rebate via virtual prepaid card. Limited-time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit, device, service, and port-in from AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular, Spectrum, Claro or Xfinity required. Complete port-in and register code within 30 days of activation."

We may split hairs on what the "qualifying device" is but it seem to me Tmobile puts more 'weight' on the fact that you need to port in from the competing networks. The blurb about the device is (intentionally?) vague...And even more importantly, it does NOT say "qualifying, unlocked device."

Maybe a stupid question but... is there a way to access the newly created T-mobile account without the SIMs in your hand? I obviously do not know any of the four temporary numbers that have been assigned so.. there no way to set up an online account, correct?
You'll need to have the activated phone/sim on hand before setting up a our tmobile account. At one point in the online account set up, it asks you to verify your phone # and they will send a 6 digit verification code.

for each ported number, you still have to pay the monthly fee, right? I have Magenta plus and each line added is $35 so doesn't make sense to get this offer .

How did you register for the rebate without knowing the port-in number?
The rebate just ask to select which line to file, which I select the new line. It did not ask for the port-in number.

Is your old sprint account credit check account or non credit check account?
