3 year review

The newer ones are a lot more powerful and even more efficient, one reason why this brand is growing so quickly.

When I got mine, I watched a lot of youtube videos about various brands.. this one guy went to the extreme by buying every brand on the market and the EGO won out in almost every category from overall blow power to battery life aka efficiency. I think it lives up to all of that hype. One of the biggest challenges is to blow soaking wet oak leaves and pine needles which it does both very well (just blew both the other day at the same time! yes, multi-talented indeed!). The only thing you have to keep in mind with all blowers from all brands is no matter what they sell you on, they do have a limited battery life before you need a recharge. Blowers is actually one of the hardest common tools to conquer when it comes to batteries, they need a lot of energy.

What I did is I got their chainsaw too that year so I could have two batteries. As a result, due to extremely excellent charge times, I'm able to go endlessly with my EGO tools just on two batteries alone, including the blower!

I've changed so many minds including guys in their 70's not keen on change that absolutely are wanting battery operated tools now.. EGO's chainsaw has impressed the neighbors the most by far I think.. I've cut down 10+ trees with their smallest chainsaw and have cut into some pretty thick wet oak logs too. When they've come up to talk about it, I always say "here, feel how light it is" and they are always like WOW! because they see from a distance I just cut up a bunch of trees yet its so light and no gas, no gas lines, etc to deal with.

If I were to be a fanboy of any powertool brand, its hands down EGO. I'm so glad that they are hellbent on perfecting their existing tools instead of trying to have 50 new products in their battery eco system every year like so many of these other brands. They are American too.. I know many hail the Chinese these days as our lords and saviors but for the few that dont.. it might help that our own peeps are designing this stuff and hiring American engineers to do so that directly support our local communities and not the CCP.

Depends if you are in the m18 system already. Ego is the best for yard tools, but they don't make drills and such.

I got the 530 in a combo with the trimmer. I'm thinking about selling the blower. What you think would be appropriate price? It would only be like 4 months old in November

I don't have any experience with EGO so I have no idea how these compare but if you're also in the market for a hedge trimmer and/or already own Dewalt tools this may be a better deal. $289 for blower and hedge trimmer combo.

I bought this last week, includes the 5.0Ah battery.

The m18 blower is pretty good for that system. I am pleased with it. I am in both the ego and m18 systems too.

Another question, Is the backpack blower worth the premium?
If you need another 7.5 ah battery, then yes. I got the backpack blower, with battery, yesterday for $239 (clearance price at HD) - 10% military discount. I have most other ego tools already, but ordered this handheld blower as I will sell the backpack blower itself to a friend and just keep the battery.

You can't go wrong with Ego. I have the mower, backpack blower, hedge trimmer, and the weed eater. Their batteries have lasted just as long as the day I bought them. Great quality brand. I chose the backpack blower because I have lots of trees, and it does help my arms from getting tired. It takes me about 45 to 60 minutes to blow the leaves for my yard. One 5.0 battery charge will work most of the time. I use a 2.5 battery afterwards, while the 5.0 recharges. I would recommend 2 batteries to keep you going through a day of yard work.

I own a previous version of this which I purchased 6 months ago. It came with 2.5 mAh battery. While I don't have any issues with it, the unit is very heavy to handle it one handed. I wish it's lighter. This comes with 5 mAh battery which would be even heavier.
agreed. I returned mine due to the weight. It's a beast for sure but it's too heavy for me.

I have the edger, trimmer, hedger, and lastly purchased the 580 blower beginning of this season. I have a the 5aH battery that I purchase 2 years ago with the edger/trimmer combo. I'm able to do my entire yard (~5000sq ft) in 1 charge. I only once had it run out when using the blower on max too long. I've been very happy with these products. I may purchase this just for an extra battery as I hear HD is discontinuing the EGO brand.

Don't know about this model but my dad has an older model, it doesn't have that adjustable knob, I borrow from time to time. Works great and I know he's had it for about 5 years or more with heavy use. The only issues I could think of is if you have a massive yard, you might want to invest in an extra battery.

I purchased this from the other big box home improvement store this past April. This blower works well beyond what I expected; better than my previous corded blower.
