I bought this exact same rig about a year ago for ~$600. Walmart had it on clearance for $399 way back too. I'm surprised the price is still this high since we've had new CPUs and GPUs launch since this came out.

Yes. That was many months ago. I did notice this PC comes with an extra 1TB HDD which wasn't included with my model, but apart from that they are the same.
Most likely a stupid question, but how common is it for people to tinker with prebuilts? Like taking parts out to make upgrades...
depends on the parts. prebuilts often use proprietary parts to make certain components difficult to upgrade. for example, many oems use proprietary motherboards/psus/cases/coolers. even with graphics cards, you have to be careful because of the power requirements (since psus can be difficult to upgrade).
things that can be easily upgraded are ssd/hdd, memory, and cpus that are compatible with the existing chipset. gpus may be upgraded if the existing psu has enough wattage and the necessary power connectors and if the case has enough clearance.
if you need to swap out the motherboard, you might as well just build your own.

good enough? or thinking of getting mSI Trident 3
Nope, not easily. It's an Intel board. For ryzen builds i would go with an x570 or b550 motherboard, or buy a ryzen system and replace.

If you're the type that likes to upgrade I would pass on this model. Changing the power supply is a pain.

It'll work, probably not a perfect experience on this card
It is not, it's probably just a bit better than series S in terms of power if not features
also you can check RAM slots since it comes with RAM and need to see # of slots available and amx
