For everyone who keeps questioning the warranty information:

The boxes in the warehouse have an additional packet of warranty information attached to the boxes. (At least they do here locally.)

So even though the box is printed with a 3-year warranty on it, the additional information explains the extension of the 3 year warranty to 5 years.

(And yes, if you use the Costco Visa credit card, that tacks on an additional 2 years, making it 7 years total.)

Hope this helps clarify things a bit...

Sony's pushing it as part of their "PS5 Ready" series and is actually one of the few TV's capable of gaming 4K at 120 Frames...however this tv will not do it out the box until a firmware update Sony has yet to push. It's assumed they'll do it closer to PS5 launch Source: https://www.techradar.com/news/sony-ps5-ready-tv

I mean you bought this way back in July. So you've enjoyed this TV for about 2 months while others patiently waited. Maybe just go to Costco and see if they will price adjust without all the hassles of returning. Cause you returning will just cause your TV to get sent back to Sony and they will then have to sell it as refurbished and then reship it somewhere else to sell. The carbon footprint of all this is huge.

If you purchase online, they start from the day it's delivered to you, so that's an option.
I bought online.. do I need to call for price match or do I go to store or either?
TIA.

I totally agree with you about the warranty. With every aspect of that in play if you end up having a problem with the TV three or four years down the line there's a very good chance you'll either end up with your money back in some form or another or a new TV.

And thank you for the comparison video, I appreciate it. My Best buy didn't have them on the same wall so I had to walk back and forth to compare them.

Overall the CX looked really good but it still did look slightly darker than the Sony one but that could have just been the lighting and location in my store. Also they had different demos rinning. The Sony had a bright, colorful promo, whereas the LG promo seemed to focus on dark scenes.

I didn't notice banding on either of the Sony ones I looked at though but they were both sitting perfectly vertical and I've read on some other coast back-bending is more evident when the TV is tilted forward.

I'll honestly probably go with the Sony because a 65 inch TV will still probably be slightly better future-proofing than a 55 in OLED
How does the size of tv have to do anything with future proofing?

You do the price match online. I believe there's a form you fill out and submit within the price adjust period. Outside of the period, you could call and ask nicely or go ask at your local store.

I have owned this tv for 2 weeks now. Bought from costco. Horrible banding (Jail bars). The viewing angles are just simply not good. If you do not sit directly in front of tv at 90 degree angle, there is horrible color washout, gamma and black levels change, etc. Also, reflections are not handled well, so if u have a window in the room, prepare for looking in the mirror. Picture quality is awesome, but there are some serious downsides to this tv as well.
I had mostly opposite experience from you. Banding is rarely noticeable. Viewing angles are good to acceptable even at sharp angles. Reflections are visible only if the sun is shining directly into your windows. Don't notice any of the color issues or black issues. Zero regrets on my 75" set.

Still doesn't make sense it's not like space in our homes will get significantly bigger in a few years. Unless we have paper thin oled in 10 yrs I can mount one in my ceiling.

It's only future-proofing for myself. I will be less likely to want a larger TV later on lol. My current TV is a 50" four-year-old Vizio m series so i was already eyeing 65 inch tvs. but a 65in OLED is out of my desired price range atm, barring a price error or some super crazy slickdeal.

I know that TVs are considerably cheaper to buy a nowadays but I still don't like to consider them disposable the way a lot of other folks on Slickdeals do.

I totally get it that others have waited patiently for this deal. Though it sucks that I bought this tv at its original price, only for the price to drop $100 a week later (I got a price adjustment) ... and then an additional $100 three weeks later (Costco did not want to give me 2 price adjustments). Seeing the same tv for $969 ($400 less with extended warranty) is a slap in the face considering that I paid an additional $99 for the Square trade warranty. So in total, I paid about $500 more just for buying the tv at what I thought was a decent deal.
Just to let you know these mid-tier TV models tend to hit their lowest price the following year during summer when stores are clearing out older models to make room for newer models.

Keep in mind many people living in new developments. New apartments, new condos, new townhouses etc. All it takes is a blank wall in a living room, den, basement, bonus room etc. Televisions are getting thinner than ever with non-existent bezels. I feel like where my 65" is I could easily fit a 75" now. Spaces are modern and and more minimalist.

This is a solid price for the television. Nit brightness a little low than I like, but still decent for the rest of the features at the price.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Wondering if we will still get the longer 5 year warranty.
Also same thought..: buy now and PM
On 9/30 but don't get the max warranty? Or just wait til 9/30. What time does Costco adjust prices for sales on their site? Seems anything I ever wanted enough was OOS on their site. After the practice trying to secure an Xbox Series X I'm primed to click the second the price updates. Lol

It's a weird thing. 25 years ago a 25-36" was "massive". 15 years ago, my 46" lcd was "massive". On the same wall and place my 46" hung, I will be hanging a 75" x900H....it's "massive" today but who knows if it's "small" in 10 years
