For everyone who keeps questioning the warranty information:

The boxes in the warehouse have an additional packet of warranty information attached to the boxes. (At least they do here locally.)

So even though the box is printed with a 3-year warranty on it, the additional information explains the extension of the 3 year warranty to 5 years.

(And yes, if you use the Costco Visa credit card, that tacks on an additional 2 years, making it 7 years total.)

Hope this helps clarify things a bit...

Sony's pushing it as part of their "PS5 Ready" series and is actually one of the few TV's capable of gaming 4K at 120 Frames...however this tv will not do it out the box until a firmware update Sony has yet to push. I mean you bought this way back in July. So you've enjoyed this TV for about 2 months while others patiently waited. Maybe just go to Costco and see if they will price adjust without all the hassles of returning. Cause you returning will just cause your TV to get sent back to Sony and they will then have to sell it as refurbished and then reship it somewhere else to sell. The carbon footprint of all this is huge.

How does this compare against the Visio P65? Rtings has both on par with one another but the Visio is several hundred dollars cheaper on sale.

I've had this for about a month now and had no issues with having it in a bright room. In fact the only issue really has been reflections of one of my lamps when it is dark. I fix this by turning the lamp off.

Exactly. The question is do we have anything in writing that the warranty is now 5 years? The only thing we have is the Costco flyer/website and whatever confirmation we have via conversations with Sony reps. But if the TV has issues in years 4 and 5, how are we going to get service support if the box warranty only has 3 years in writing? What are we supposed to do - submit a picture of the Costco flyer from 3 years ago that showed it has a 5-year manufacturer warranty?

I was at Costco this past Sunday and the box stated "3-year warranty" in the front, so unless they repackage the box just for this sale starting today (doesn't seem realistic), the inside warranty card will likely say 3 years on it.

Maybe if we register the product online with Sony, their software will track your purchase as having a 5-year warranty, but this doesn't give me the warm fuzzies…

Thanks for the deal. Booked my delivery date for October 28th, so 30 days from there is right on Black Friday i believe. Even then, I'd be surprised if this particular model drops in price.

I personally went with Q80T which cost me around $1300 after all discounts on samsung. It costs way more than this TV but met my needs on paper. I compared both these in a best buy store and decided to fork up for the Q80T.

Sorry to borrow this thread. I bought the $998 65x950g from Amazon. I received it today. But it keeps on freezing after about 10 sec. I could not even complete the initial setup. Anyone has a similar experience?

With LED TVs you basically have two choices, IPS panels, which have great viewing angles but the black level suffers, or TN panels where the best viewing angle is basically on a couch right in front of the TV. TN quality drops off from the side, but black levels are way better if you sit in front. I personally would choose the TN panels, especially if you watch lots of movies. Or you could spend extra and get OLED.

Try not to connect it to the internet, don't sign in, run through setup by skipping everything. Then connect it to wifi, update all the way, then do a factory reset and go through setup.
