Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

A couple of questions.

Can I use this promo for both the lines on my account?

Also does EIP require unfreezing credit?

Steps 1, 2, and 4 are correct. Step 3 is incorrect. The Hookup Code will get you a $200 virtual prepaid card that you'll receive in 6 to 8 weeks; the $200 doesn't come off of the order itself.

I've been working on a write-up, which I just finalized (no guarantees that this information is fully accurate):
  1. Before 09/30/2020, obtain a Type 3 Insider Hookup code, which will result in a virtual prepaid card worth $200
  2. Starting 09/25/2020 12 am PDT, purchase the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE [t-mobile.com] using T-Mobile's Equipment Installation Plan (EIP)
  3. The phone will be released on 10/02/2020, and you need the phone's IMEI in order to fully claim the Hookup code, which will expire on 09/30/2020. However, you will be able to use your Hookup code as long as the phone purchase is made within the promo period, which ends on 09/30/2020. You have 30 days from the phone purchase date to redeem the Hookup code
  4. Once the phone is delivered, go to https://insider.t-mobile.com [t-mobile.com] and follow the instructions, which include entering the Hookup code and the phone's IMEI
  5. To send in your trade-in device, go to T-Mobile.com's Account Order Status page to print a shipping label; you have 30 days to send in your device
  6. You should receive the $200 virtual prepaid card within 6 to 8 weeks
  7. Every month for 24 months, the bill will increase by $8.33
Calculation for without Hookup code:
  • $699.99 (retail price) - $500 (trade-in value) = $199.99. Every month for 24 months, the bill will increase by $8.33, so you will have paid $199.92 and sent in your trade-in device for the S20 FE.
Calculation for with Hookup code:
  • $699.99 (retail price) - $500 (trade-in value) = $199.99. Hookup code will give you a $200 virtual prepaid card. Every month for 24 months, the bill will increase by $8.33, so you will have a net profit of $0.08 and will have sent in your trade-in device for the S20 FE.
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

About the hook up code, I'm pretty sure that you need to know the imei of the se20 fe 5g phone in order to redeem. So i hope the imei shows up some where before the the hook up expires

I'm in the same boat love my 3aXL, but I have reservations this is a BIGGER phone, not sure what to expect i've had Samsung and it was great but didn't like the bloatware or all the added on stuff in Android. I've become used to the simple and clean approach of pure android and the pixel's camera is amazing, monthly updates, cloud storage, and the lack of a headphone jack it just gives me pause.

Who knows what sort of deal we'll see on the next gen Pixel.
Exactly this! My wife has this but the phone is giving issues in calling. There are random pauses and needs to be reset. But was thinking if I should make her get this. The pixel is on eip from T-Mobile and she loves the headphone jack and simplicity. Hmm.
The 4a and 3a XL screens are much closer in size than you may realize, and the everyday pricing on the 4a is simply too close to this offer to justify unless you're just trying to pinch every penny. That extra $150 buys you a phone with arguably the best camera on the market and 3 years of software updates (and peace of mind). Software functionality alone means that in 3 years you're probably still running a phone with features and functionality unavailable in brand new competitor phones(!).

My 2016 Pixel XL 1st gen still takes amazing pictures and is running Android 10 (admittedly no longer receiving patches past this). My 2017 S8 is on Android 9, and was demoted to a quarterly security patch schedule... if I'm lucky (current patch is from June); this is all a choice made and stated by Samsung to limit the number of supported "major" upgrades. I have an S9 getting newer updates but my long-term goal is to get all my primary phones onto the Pixel ecosystem.

For someone in the Samsung ecosystem today this could be a no-brainer but I'd be wary of taking anyone out of the Pixel ecosystem and onto a Samsung, especially given the heavily discounted Pixel prices available in the Pixel a-series.

Good luck!
Jon

Yes, I requested a code via direct message on Reddit.
It took about 8 hours for the person to find a code and reply via direct message.
I have also heard others getting codes via a ticket system on Discord.
